Application - Devlin [1/2] 9_miles_high September 29 2009, 23:19:23 UTC
Your name: Kitsu
Age: 24
Timezone: GMT+1 (CET)
Character name: Devlin Elliot Levin (continuing the E-Levin tradition XD)
Race: part human / part (mutant) alien
Age:11

Appearance/Personality:
At first sight, one might not even notice a scrawny, hooded boy who blends into the background. You'd have to look twice to see that hood covering two cobalt-blue eyes framed by an unruly ebony fringe. His hair is shaved at the nape and raised, giving him an added token to his roguish appearance. This because he wanted to have his hair long, just like his father, though living day to day made his realize having it shaved off and pulled up made it easier to move with less sweating and discomfort. Because yes, despite his slightly unkempt and average looks (although, in the future that he comes from, hardly anything can be considered such), Devlin is a rather smart little devil. He has a sense of justice underneath his inevitable survival 1-oh-1 skills though, and while he may appear detached and quieter or less ambitious as his father was at his age, he's still very much a boy who subtly seeks and shows gratitude to affection and TLC. Blind rage, though extremely rare, will make him loose his composure and transform unwillingly, wreaking havoc left and right. This is also where his complexes are rooted. Not being human is not an issue in his time, but loosing control is. Especially when he suddenly gets a loving dad and an adorable little brother he doesn't want to hurt.

History: Growing up, Devlin never knew his mother. He doesn't think he's ever asked, but even if he had - he had been four when he last would have virtually had the chance to, and thus would most likely not remember the name or face either way. His early memories of his father are fond, he remembers him as a strong man who looked after him however best he knew how to. Which is why he had vowed to free him, growing up in a galactic orphanage. Through the years, Devlin escaped the facility often - he sometimes needed out, especially when the older kids got smart with him, making him loose control over his mutant self. After hurting one of the care-takers he was fond of, an elderly woman, he got a grip though - he at first nearly ran away, but the old lady had smiled and soothed him, telling him it was okay to be different and to look upon it as a talent and legacy he should be proud of. Which is probably why he grew up not sharing his father's outlooks on life... and ultimately, the reason why he rebelled after facing him anew, helping getting him caught and restrained again. Solemn, he had been trying to deal with the shock of the man he had only ever looked up to falling down from the heaven he had cast him in, crash and burn, as well as the fear of someday becoming like him, embracing his mutant side and wanting more, insatiably. He has reason to believe Ben Tennyson had welcomed him as his own out of maybe personal guilt or pity in reliance to the apparent past he had shared with his father, as well as maybe monitoring... but he's okay with that. It makes him feel safe, and loved, though he wouldn't come right out and outwardly say it - that's more Kenny's job.

Journal sample:
We're grounded. Typical.
Kenny never heard when I said we were gonna be. Again, typical.

He's up on his bed and sulking apparently, because I can hear him punching in the buttons of his hand-game from across the room. I'm also totally ignoring it until he cools off or explodes in a string of 'who-does-he-think-he-is', 'I'm-so-done-being-treated-like-a-toddler' or 'we-didn't-do-anything-wrong's. He undoubtedly will, give him a breather, maybe two. And then he'll lay there, deflated, because he knows father had been right and that if we hadn't followed him (like he said we shouldn't), he wouldn't have had a bruised shoulder and I wouldn't have needed to go mutant to shield his head from smashing into a pancake on the concrete. It probably won't sink in he nearly died till later. So I'll just... scoot over in my bed to begin with, I know he'll be crawling in there beside me.

It's fine though. I'll just talk to him into saying sorry in the morning and we'll be un-grounded, pronto. Maybe we can get up early and start breakfast, too, for good measure... Yeah, that's a good idea. I'll go set my alarm.

Devlin bit his lip. The forecast ever so imminent was: 'trouble'. He'd stopped wondering why he played along long ago, though, because the answer was simple; it was fun.

He tip-toed across the floor though, careful to stay in the blind spot of the surveillance camera. His back plastered to the wall he inched along it, quiet as a mouse. He could do this. He'd done it before. Being sneaky was his specialty.

Another corner turned and the darkness was thicker there, only the faint glow of the city's midnight skyline seeping in through the panoramic roof as the outlines of the storage came into view. Another look left, then right, just to be sure, before he picked his pace, bare feet barely heard against the smooth floor. He reached above, standing on tip-toe because he was just barely tall enough to reach the shelf, and snagged his loot, quickly, two hand-fulls, before he was on his way, swift like a thief.

Two corridors and a camera avoided later, he was elbowing the button for the compressed-air doors to fly open. Light enveloped him and he winced slightly, but disappeared inside without a second thought. Grinning he threw a packet onto his partner-in-crime's lap, before opening his own with a pop.

“You're going next time, though,” he remarked, deep blue eyes sharing a glimmer of success with the neon green. Oh yes - ice-cream always tasted better after midnight.

Anything else: I'm... not a native English speaker, but I usually cover it up pretty well? ^^; Do feel free to poke me if I mess up anywhere though, yeah? =) Also. Sorry it's so long. XD

No problem. That's a really good reason to be away. We understand that RL things have to be taken care of first.

We're just glad you can still play!
