Character name: Paradox (He’s not on the list, but I’ve seen his name pop up a few times already in some threads. He can be the explanation/explainer for Kenny and Devlin’s presence in the current time line. And he can screw with people’s heads. That’s always fun.)
Race: Human
Age: He walks in eternity. (But appears to be in his mid-40s to 50s.)
Appearance/Personality: Paradox wears an off-white lab coat over his brown sweater vest and dark gray (possibly black) tweed pants, along with a pair of green-tinted goggles slung around his neck. He carries a gold pocket watch, which can be used as an aid to his time traveling. His hair is black, his eyes are gray, and he has one of those awesome prominent noses.
He’s a bit like the typical absent-minded professor, but not because he’s scatter-brained. It’s because he has spent eons in and out of the time stream, and for the life of him, he can’t tell if he’s met you yet or not. His best personality trait is his intelligence. He spends lifetimes learning the knowledge of thousands of worlds and eras and uses this knowledge to help prod the time line towards its best possibilities. He’s a time-traveling hero. And he really. Stinking. Likes. Gumballs.
History: Paradox does not remember his real name, he has been traveling through the time stream for so long. He used to work as a research scientist for the United States government in the 1950s. While utilizing the massive quartz deposits at Los Soledad to build a portal for time travel, Paradox’s experiment went awry when his assistant Hugo broke the console controlling the portal. It became a wormhole of sorts that sucked Paradox and Hugo out of the natural time stream
After centuries, Paradox went insane, grew bored of it, and then went sane. Very sane. Hugo popped back into the time stream 50 years after the accident as a destructive anomaly, causing the incident that made Paradox meet Ben, Gwen, and Kevin for the first time in their (Alien Force) time line. Said incidents resulted in Kevin turning into an old man and Ben destroying driving the Camaro. Paradox de-aged Kevin back to 16, and broke a few rules to fix the car. Paradox had previously entered the Alien Force time stream to help Ben and co. stop the High Breed invasion. (Therefore, in Ben’s timeline, Hugo, then Highbreed. In Paradox’s timeline, Highbreed, then Hugo.)
He has since been traversing the universe, as well as maintaining the current timeline when events go wonky in the past (or future). He probably parties with Azmuth on the side.
Journal sample: Washington, D.C., United States: June 3, 1800 Just helped President Adams move into a tavern. The White House won’t be livable until November, if I remember correctly. I do hope he’s prepared to lose the next election to young Jefferson shortly after moving in.
I ran into an anomaly in the stream on my way here. I have a feeling Ben Tennyson is involved. Transtemporal beings always have a way of finding him. As long as I do not have to warp a car from 1976 again, I think things will turn out well, but I really should check in on him and his friends.
Perhaps after I see the lunar landing again. 1964 was a great year.
Tag sample: A blue light-filled portal opened up in midair, and Paradox stepped out onto the ground below. Adjusting his coat, the time traveler retrieved a small brown paper bag from a pocket. He pulled out a bright red gumball from the bag. After placing the gumball in his mouth, Paradox checked his pocket watch. Satisfied he had come out into the right time, he put the watch back into his pocket. He set off down the street, intending to cross paths with an old friend.
Anything else: Paradox isn’t one of those constant characters in the show (or in the time line, really). So, since I’ve never RP’d before, but some people have nagged asked me to try, I figured I’d play a character who doesn’t have to show up all the time but can still pop in and out in between his usual time traveling shenanigans. So, I’d be one of those transient RP’ers. That’s okay with you guys, right?
