Birthday, Deathday, What A Day! (A Mini-Whinge)

Jun 09, 2011 16:04

Today is the anniversary of Johnny Depp's birth in 1963.

Today is also the anniversary of Charles Dickens' death in 1870.

And I was born 48 years ago today. And how did I spend it so far?

Apologizing to my boss on the phone this morning for getting up late and not getting to work on time. Boss said watch it next time, covered it with a vacation day.

Went back to bed since I didn't get enough sleep, which is another of my bloody bad habits I have to conquer.

Was awakened TWICE by calls from telemarketers for A) a newspaper and B) a charity.

Just got up a few minutes ago, readying myself to go cook dinner for my Dad. He is suffering not only from cancer in his right lung - so far it's under control - but he's been suffering these last few days from cluster migraines. So right now, he's not feeling like a "happy camper".

And, as usual, I put up with my OCPD and my Type 2 Diabetes and every other flaw in my body, mind and character, keeping my mouth shut about it because everyone else in the world is going through even worse problems than I am. People dying in wars, famine, political protests, abuse, incurable diseases. The world saying in effect, "Shut up, you fool! Nobody wants to hear you whine! You self-centered ego-maniac, this is part of being human. Shut up before you get hit with something worse."

Happy Birthday to me. I hope that your day will be much brighter and sweeter.
