Sounds to me like you’ve got rhythm to spare

First: today I finally got the last of the rejection letters out. Although I said so in the letters, I also want to apologize again to anyone reading here who had to wait this long. Our turnaround time is usually FAR faster than this; June hasn’t been kind to our schedule. We’re taking steps to ensure this kind of delay never happens again.

We received an article today that’s going in Issue 9 (Alternate History). It’s really terrific, I’m very pleased with it. And we’ve got it well earlier than we expected to, which means one less thing to worry about. Yay! I also sent off the questions for the interview that will be in Issue 9. We got our first glimpse at some early stages of the Issue 9 cover art today, too. What we saw didn’t make it too clear what the finished product will look like, but we know the artist’s style so we have a pretty good idea. Can’t wait!

I took a break from the various Issue 8 formats today to work on something else: a submission form for the site. Those of you who participated in the Flash Fiction contest know that submissions were done through a form on the site, where you filled in fields for Name, Email, Subject, and pasted the stories into the body of the message. Well it worked so well on our end that we decided it would be good for us if we could implement a similar form for all our submissions. Clarkesworld magazine has been using one for a while with great success, and a few other magazines have adopted it. (And to be honest, it’s something I thought of back when we started CG, but didn’t have time to implement.) The big thing was integrating it with our site, and figuring out how to enable attachments. Those have been sorted, and there’s just a couple tiny bugs to iron out, so we’ll be rolling that out on July 1.

Speaking of submissions: Only SIX MORE DAYS to get your Alternate History submissions in! We’re still on the low end of submissions this month, too. C’mon, show us what you got!

And also, speaking of the Flash Fiction contest, there are just six days left to get your votes in! Remember, the top 4 vote-getters get prizes - any of the stories could still place! Make a writer very happy and vote for their story!
