(no subject)
The earth is our one world. But there are other "worlds" that infest and thrive under this one world. There is the world of philosophy, the world of ants, the world of male modeling, and disneyworld. Today i experienced one world in particular... the competitive ballroom dance world!
My friend teah from highschool came down on friday b/c of this and i must say it was pretty good despite the fact that i had to wake up at 8am on a saturday and it got kinda boring towards the end of my stay.
Kim, cameron, mike menninger, tiffany liu were there as well as katie and meryl from cat section.
but it was pretty awesome. here are some pics.
it was held in the main gym in revelle. it reminded me of south basketball games. upstairs were little kids doing gymnastics and looking down at the dancer's enviously. As you can see thats the announcer booth and the judges went around the court looking at all the dancers.
this is a scene where all the dancers are gettting ready for the comp. there are different dances like American smooth which is mostly fox trot, tango, and waltz. then theres international stuff like samba, cha cha and what not. each dance has different levels and each level has different "heats" to pic the winner. another words it took reaaaallly long and became boring as you kept watching the same thing over and over. we didn't stay to see internation dance and left when american smooth, which started at 9:30, ended at 12:30!~~~
This is teah! the giraffe! She did so well. not because she's my friend but you can tell the "smoothness" and "execution" of the dance which she and her partner did very well. I'm so glad she came!
ah ha... this is paul harper... this is inside joke but this guy was so awesome. it was funny how mike just mentioned his cool sideburns and then we made him into a legend between me, mike and cameron. This guy is from new mexico university and had tag number 156. never met him before, but he is so awesome. when he dances he has this dance face thats so cool looking. we cheered him on even though we didn't know him. And so the legend of paul harper began...(btw we weren't making fun of him, we became real big fan of this guy from his dance)
now this dancer was great because.... wait a minute!!! this shouldn't be in this section....this was after the dance. cameron,mike,tiffany, and i went to shogun for lunch. i told tiff about my hair plans, she put her hair band in it and i'm doing the paul harper face... i know when my hair really grows long it won't look quite like this but it aint bad.
more dancers dancing in passion....or something
this is blake. teah's fellow dance person(?) they go to the same school (UCSB) and he drove her here to stay at camerons. he was a cool guy as well as a great dancer.
