After having a precognitive vision that links a future victim to the Xavier School, SSA Spencer Reid calls his old teachers, and it's not long before the threat of known mutant-rights supports Charles Xavier and Dr Jean Grey getting involved has the NYPD calling for FBI assistance.
The Xavier School, at the advice of SSA Reid, brings all of its students inside and locks the gate behind them, but the death toll keeps rising...

Crossover: Numb3rs/Firefly fusion (Numb3rs characters in the Firefly universe, no Firefly characters)

Title: Constant Companion
Summary: Don has been rising the ranks in the Alliance Police, helped by his willingness to take on the job no one wanted: the cleanup on Miranda. Following a breakthrough on how to combat the Reavers and restore safety, Don is offered a major promotion with several perks including a Companion.

At the Companion facility Don meets Charles - who is still in training - and falls hard, agreeing to wait for him and to pay for Charles to be his exclusive Companion so that he might have no other clients. Charles is devoted to Don and they are happy together, but doubts arise to mar their bliss. Does Charles truly love Don or is he just playing the role expected of a Companion? Are Don's affections ephemeral, a passing crush, such that he might grow tired of Charles and request a new and different Companion later?

Companions do not marry clients and clients do not marry their Companions, yet through all the doubts one truth cannot be denied: that they cannot bear to be apart. Each man must face a sacrifice of their future, risking their careers for a chance at happiness.
