Hello! I've been watching this community for the past year or so. I have always been in awe of all of the great stitching that goes on here. I started stitching only last year. I have always wanted to post something, but I waited until I felt like I had some sort of stash built up to share.

I think the progress of my stitching is very typical. I start off on Aida, transition through with Evenweave, and have now fallen for Linen.
I live in Japan and it's very frustrating because 1.) It's difficult to find cloth with higher count weaves (oh Japanese stitchers, why do you all want to work on 10, 12, and 14 point Aida!? Why do shop owners look confused when I try to ask for a 20 or 22 count?!) and 2.) the cloth that is available is usually some ugly color that doesn't at all appeal to me. (I love working on warm browns or ecru. I don't like stitching on white.)

I use DMC flosses but this is basically because that's what my mother always used and it's one of the only three options here. (Anchor, Olympus or DMC.)
Anyway, I spent some time last night taking pictures of some projects that I've done in the last year.

A free pattern taken from an old 1980s issue of Just Cross Stitch.

Another one from Just Cross Stitch. I haven't framed it yet because I want to put it behind glass and everything, but there's a small stain in the top right part. I'm afraid to wash it. (Does anyone know if DMC floss washes well?)

This was also taken (and somewhat modified) from a pattern from Just Cross Stitch. My mom subscribed from 1986-1989 so it's a pattern from somewhere around there.

Quaker Heart, a free design by Janice Wood available at Piecework Magazine Online.

The back side of Quaker Heart. I am giving this to my co-worker whose birthday is on the 14th.

This is for my other co-worker, but it's not finished off and I still need to iron it.
What's the best way to get a crease out of Aida? I've never had the same problem with linen or evenweave.
It's the Rosebud Nametag free design from The Drawn Thread.

This is quite old but it's the first time I ever tried designed a project on my own from scratch.

My most recent finish. I framed it but I think I will go back and paint the frame red. :-D I got that frame at the dollar store so I don't feel so bad about possibly destroying it. This is a design from The Prairie Schooler from August 2008.

I have two pretty big WIPs:

How Does Your Garden Grow? by Papillion Creations. (I think there are some other people here also doing this one?) I seriously need to catch up. I started very late (it's a SAL) so I don't know that I'll ever catch up, but I really like stitching this thing.

This is almost finished but I just can't seem to get back to it. I designed this by myself, too. (I borrowed the ship motif, though, found via Google Images.)

I am also working on about 3 or 4 ornaments but they're not yet interesting enough to take pictures of.
I'm about to attempt BEADING for the first time and I'm a little scared. :-)

Sorry if it was too image heavy!
