The two women returned to the table and Sam pulled the chair out for her partner then sat in her own. Liv gave Sam a questioning look, “Everything’s fine…see stain all gone, “she told the detective holding up her sleeve.
Liv quirked an eyebrow at the blonde haired woman but just nodded and continued with her meal, not satisfied with the answer but not wanting to push. The couples resumed the small talk as they worked to finish their food until the loud laughter from across the restaurant made Alex raise her head up to look in the direction of the sound. Shaking her head, the lawyer muttered something under her breath; this caused her partner to now give her the questioning look and ask, “What’s wrong?”
“Oh nothing,” Alex answered.
Another loud outburst caused Sam to turn around and look over the other patrons, spotting the table where the noises were coming from she realized it was the one belonging to the woman they thought to be Hathor; she turned back to face the lawyer, “You would think they could be a little more polite in public,” she said.
“Well she always was one for flamboyant acts,” Alex muttered.
“Who is she?” Janet asked as she took a sip from her wine glass.
“Pamela Turner,” Alex said and then heard Olivia groan.
“What?” Sam asked, hearing the groan from the detective.
“You explain…I try not to remember that woman,” Liv said looking at her partner.
This caused Alex to laugh softly and this made Sam and Janet even more curious, not only because of what they suspected but that the couple actually knew the woman. Janet gave them both a look as Alex took a sip from her glass and then told them about what Liv didn’t want to remember.
“I actually went to school with her,” Alex began, “but unlike mine her parents totally spoiled her,” Liv snorted a laugh but the lawyer ignored her and kept talking.
“She’s had everything handed to her, didn’t need to worry about a career or even finishing school; lately she’s been the hottest thing in the gossip columns with her wild parties and flamboyant actions in public. The thing Liv doesn’t like to talk about happened at a charity function we attended last month,” she paused to give Liv a look and the detective sighed, motioning for her to continue.
“Yes…do tell,” Sam remarked; she needed to find out all she could about this woman.
“Well…Pamela is well known for her love of both sexes, her escorts vary from function to function and this night it seemed she grew tired of the boy toy she’d chosen for the event,“ Liv shook her head, sighing heavily as Alex continued, “in fact before the night was over with she had grown quite attached to Olivia, even though she knew we were a couple.”
“That didn’t stop her from getting all grabby or leaving bruises on me from where she kept pinching my ass,” Liv muttered.
“Well I think she finally got the clue when you dumped the punch bowl on her my dear,” Alex remarked with a grin.
“It was that or shoot her and I didn’t have my gun,” Liv replied sarcastically.
Sam and Janet both laughed at the reply but caught each other’s gaze and with a slight nod from her partner Janet asked, “It seems like she’s quite the handful…you don’t still associate with her do you?”
“Only at certain functions…in fact we’re supposed to go to a fundraiser tomorrow night; I’m sure she’ll turn up, she never misses a reason to spend her father’s money,” Alex told the doctor.
Liv spoke up, “Would the two of you like to go with us?”
“I’m sure they have other plans Liv,” Alex told her.
Sam glanced at the doctor who inclined her head slightly towards her, “We’d love to go; it’s not everyday we poor military types get to rub elbows with New York high society…isn’t that right Janet?”
“Yes…I think it would be fun,” Janet replied with a nod.
“Are you sure? They really are boring events,” Alex told them.
“Hey…if they want to experience boredom at it’s finest I say it’s up to us to show it to them,” Liv interjected and then said “Ow” as Alex kicked her under the table.
“You just want somebody to hide with,” she told her partner, this caused the other couple to laugh again.
“Guilty as charged,” the detective admitted and then looked over at Sam, “So…you guys up for it?”
“Yep…count us in,” Sam said with a nod.
With that settled they finished with their meal and ordered dessert as they worked out the details for the following evening. Once dessert arrived, more small talk ensued and Sam turned slightly, glancing towards Pamela’s table where she saw they were beginning to leave. Watching the party move through the dining area, she kept a close eye on the woman; when they reached the front she saw them wait for their coats and then as one of the men held Pamela’s coat out for her to slip into she caught Sam’s gaze. Before Sam could turn away there was a quick flash of golden light in the woman’s eyes and she flashed a smile at the woman watching her. Sam’s jaw stiffened but forcing herself to return the smile she watched as the woman turned with a haughty air, leaving the restaurant with her male entourage.
The doctor looked over at her partner and caught her eye; Sam just shook her head slightly and mouthed, “Later.”
Unknown to Sam, the detective noticed the little shake and mouthed word, this just made her even more curious about the two; her gut instincts were screaming they were hiding something from her and Alex but she remembered what her partner said to her earlier and kept her mouth shut. If the couple from Colorado wanted to tell them anything they would, she would just have to wait and see if that actually happened.
Alex waved the nearby waiter over and asked for their check, he left and soon reappeared with the small black book, laying it on the table at her elbow. Janet started to pick it up but Alex stopped her, “Dinner is on me,” she told the doctor.
“But I said I would pay for it,” Sam spoke up.
“Ah…no…I insist, If you’d like you can treat us to lunch tomorrow while we shop,“ the lawyer told her.
“Shopping?” asked Sam as she gave her partner a confused look.
“Yes…shopping,” Janet replied, “while you two were in the ladies room Alex and I decided we would spend the day with her; she’s going to show us around town.”
Sam groaned and shot Liv a help me look; the detective held up her hands, “Sorry…I can’t help you…I have to work tomorrow, she’s the one on vacation,” she told the blonde.
“Can I come to work with you?” Sam asked in a pleading tone.
The detective laughed at her tone, “I’ll meet the three of you for lunch and if they haven’t drained you by then…I’ll take you back to the squad room with me,” Liv told her and received a big smile from her new friend.
Janet shot her partner a look and said, “Just for that you have to try on clothes.”
The smile disappeared from Sam’s face and she gave the doctor a pleading look, complete with puppy dog eyes; at which Janet just shook her head, “Nope…that look won’t get you out of it.”
Alex and Liv both could not help laughing as Sam sighed and shrugged, “Well I tried anyway,” and she turned her head slightly giving Liv a wink.
The waiter returned, halting their conversation as he informed Alex that their car was waiting out front now; she thanked him, handed him the check and the ladies rose from the table then made their way back to the front of the restaurant to pick up their coats. Exiting they found the car waiting with the driver holding the door open for them, climbing into the limo the four woman made themselves comfortable and then waited as the driver returned to his seat. While they waited for the traffic to pause so the car could pull away from the curb Alex asked their new friends if they would like to take a little tour of the city at night.
Sam gave Janet a look and the doctor replied, “No I think we’ve had a pretty full day; if you don’t mind we’d like to call it a night.”
“No that’s fine…we can always do it another time,” Alex told her and then informed the driver to take them to the couple’s hotel.
Pulling out into the street the car began the trip back to the hotel; inside the two couples discussed more about the following night, while Janet and Alex talked, Liv just sat watching Sam as her face grew more somber looking; she would smile occasionally but Liv could tell something was weighing heavily on the blonde-haired woman’s mind and this only deepened the mystery for the curious detective. Soon they reached their destination and both women thanked them for the wonderful evening, promising to meet Alex downstairs in the morning around nine o’clock; they exited the car and with a wave to the two inside closed the door then entered the hotel.
As the car pulled away from the curb Alex remarked, “I enjoyed tonight…didn’t you?”
“Mmmuh,” was the replied she received from Liv, who seemed to be lost in thought.
“What…didn’t you have fun?” asked Alex.
“Oh…yeah…I did…I really like them it’s just something happened in the bathroom; couldn’t you tell by their body language when they came back to the table?” Liv asked her partner.
Alex sighed, crossing her arms she glared at her partner, “Can you not drop the suspicious thinking for just one night? I swear you spend too much time doing it at work, they are not two suspects in a case Olivia.”
Glancing sideways at the ADA, Liv reached an arm over and tugged on Alex’s crossed arms until her partner allowed herself to be pulled into the detective’s lap; when Alex lay cradled in her arms Liv spoke softly, “I’m sorry…you’re right,” and she bent down placing a soft kiss on her partner’s lips. “I’ll stop being a nosy cop around them,” she said after pulling back from the kiss, but still hovering over the ADA.
“Apology accepted, “ Alex replied and threaded her fingers through Liv’s short hair then cupped the back of her head, “now…come back down here,” she said pulling Liv back down to claim her lips again.

The elevator door opened onto their floor and Janet followed her partner as she strode down the hallway until she reached their room; swiping the key card and opening the door Sam walked into their room where she kicked off her heels then turned to Janet who was closing the door, “Let me have your phone,” she said holding her hand out.
“What happened back there to make you get all growl faced,” Janet asked handing her the phone from her purse.
Sam sat on the bed and began dialing a long sequence of numbers into the phone, she looked up for a minute and replied, ”Oh it was her alright; she flashed her eyes when she caught me watching them leave and then she gave me one of those sickly sweet smiles…you know the ones that make your skin crawl.”
“Are you sure?” Janet asked sitting next to her.
“Yeah…I’m sure…she got up close and personal with me the last time we met…the time I thought Jack killed her,” Sam said as she finished dialing and held the phone to her ear.
Janet frowned but stayed silent as Sam began speaking into the phone; “This is Major Samantha Carter, I need a secure line to General Hammond please…it’s urgent.”
Sam stood up and began pacing as she waited for the line to connect; “Hello Sir…yes Sir I know I'm on vacation but we have a situation in New York…”
Janet listened to the one-sided conversation as Sam explained what had occurred; she assured him they could handle the situation but if the need arose she needed permission to grant clearance to a certain couple…in case any legal matters could not be sidestepped. She assured him they were trustworthy and from her partner’s reaction he must have granted it because Sam gave her a thumb up sign then asked if a few items could be sent via military courier. Still pacing Sam told him she would keep him updated and if they had any problems she would let him know; telling him she would report back in twelve hours and then said good-bye.
Cutting the phone off she sat down next to Janet and flopped back on the bed, “He’s sending me a side arm and a couple of zats, they should be here in the morning; there will also be a transport plane waiting in case we capture her alive, with an all female crew of course,” Sam told her partner.
“If we capture her alive?” asked Janet, her brow furrowing.
“If we can’t catch her, he gave me orders to eliminate the threat,” she said raising her hands and making air quotes with her fingers.
Janet looked at her partner who now had an arm thrown over face, “Sam…could you do that?”
Sam peeked out from under arm, “What do you think? I know I can kill Janet, it’s just a matter of doing it, after all I‘ve already shot her once; I could do it again,” she said sighing and rolling off the bed.
Janet watched as her partner walked towards the bathroom, pulling her jacket off and letting it fall to the floor, she began tugging her dress off and turned back to her partner, “Want to share a hot bath? I need to relax or else I won’t get any sleep,” she asked the doctor with a small smile and held out her hand.
“A hot bath sounds wonderful sweetie,” Janet said rising from the bed to take her partner’s hand and they walked into the bathroom together. For right now they would concentrate on themselves…tomorrow would bring a set of new problems before they knew it.

The faint smell of leather and coffee teased Alex from her rest and she blinked her eyes open to find Olivia standing beside the bed already dressed for work, a cup of coffee in her hand. The detective set the cup on the night stand and bent over placing a soft kiss to Alex’s lips, “Good morning,” she said softly.
Alex smiled at her partner, stretching her body she glanced over at the clock, “You’re going in early…it’s not even seven yet,“ she said in a sleepy tone, not quite awake yet.
“I thought if I put in a couple of extra hours this morning then Sam and I could hang out for a little while until you and Janet finished shopping,” the detective told her partner, brushing the hair out of Alex’s face.
“Mmmm…sounds like a good idea; I really don’t think she was looking forward to doing that with us,” Alex said grinning up at Liv.
“Oh really…what gave you that idea? Her asking to come to work with me or the look she gave Janet?” Liv replied with a grin of her own.
Alex just answered her by grabbing the nearby pillow and hitting the detective with it; Liv laughed and jumped away from the bed before Alex could land another blow, she strolled towards the doorway, “There are bagels on the counter, call me when you decide where to eat for lunch,” she threw over her shoulder as she walked out of the bedroom.
Hearing the front door open and a yelled, “Bye” from her departing partner Alex smiled and then pulled the covers up around her again, she could nap for another hour before she needed to get ready to meet their new friends.

A little after eight-thirty there was a knock on the room door and Sam walked out of the bathroom, toothbrush still hanging from her mouth, she looked through the peephole and saw a uniformed man standing outside. Taking the toothbrush out, she opened the door and the young lieutenant asked, “Major Carter?”
“Yes,” she replied and the young man snapped to attention.
Sam gave him a smile, “At ease Lieutenant,” she told him.
“Yes Ma’am…if I can just see some credentials then you can sign for this and I’ll be on my way Ma’am,” he said, raising the large briefcase in one hand while he dug in his pocket for the paperwork with the other.
Sam turned away from the door, reaching into her nearby hanging jacket she pulled out her identification and then turned back showing it to the young man. He nodded, handing her the papers and a pen which she signed then accepted the briefcase from him.
“Thank you Lieutenant,” she told him and then with a salute to her he turned away, walking away from the door.
Closing the door she walked over to the bed, laying the briefcase down and popping the locks opened it; the two zats and a nine millimeter Beretta along with several clips of ammo set nestled in the foam cushioning of the case. Janet walked out of the bathroom as she was loading a clip into the sidearm, which she then placed in the holster and slipped it into the waistband of her jeans nestling the weapon in the small of her back along with a couple extra clips attached in their on holder. Picking up one of the zats she then turned to Janet, “I want you to carry one of the zats in your purse; it should fit okay,” she told the doctor, handing her the weapon.
Janet took the alien weapon from her hand, “Do you really think I’ll need it today?” she asked as she checked to see if it would fit in her bag, it was a close but there was room.
“She knows we’re here Janet…I just want to play it safe, especially since I’m going to be with Liv this afternoon. I want to know you have protection, just in case you need it,” she told her partner and then pulled her into a hug, “If I didn’t need to talk with Liv about all of this I would stay with you today; do you think you can handle explaining it to Alex or do you want to do that before we split up?”
Janet pulled back slightly and looked up into Sam’s eyes, “I can handle telling her; if she doesn’t believe me I can show her the zat.”
“That’s my girl,” Sam said bending her head down to place a kiss on Janet’s lips, after a few minutes of slow exploration they broke the kiss and stood in the middle of the room just holding one another. Sam sighed and then said, “Well we better finish getting ready, it’s almost time to meet Alex downstairs.”
“Have you thought about how we’re going to pull this off?” Janet asked not breaking her hold on her partner’s waist.
“I have a few ideas…don’t worry, I’ll go over everything after I get them worked out,” Sam told her, kissing the doctor’s forehead.
Janet gave her a smile and broke away, going to finish getting ready while Sam sat down, to begin pulling her boots on; still lost in her thoughts while she waited on Janet to finish. Yes…she had a few ideas, but she hadn't settled on a good one yet; for one of them she would need the detective’s help. She only hoped the woman would believe her story, if all else failed she would make another phone call to prove she was telling the truth.
Standing up she stomped her feet, settling them in her boots and walked over to stand before the mirror, grabbing her light leather jacket she slipped it on and made sure the weapon was concealed even if she moved suddenly, adjusting her collar and sleeves she nodded, satisfied with her appearance she ran a hand through her short hair and waited on her partner.
In the bathroom Janet finished with her makeup and then stood staring at her reflection, ‘I know I shouldn’t be worried, we handled her fine the first time around but this is different. We have other people to worry about, not just those on the base. Sam seems to have everything in control so far but this is Hathor, she managed to stay alive somehow and make it back to Earth, we have no idea if she has other Goa’uld with her or if she really is working alone.’ Janet sighed heavily and then straightened her spine, a determined look appeared on her face, “I have faith in my abilities and those of the woman I love…we can do this,” she told herself; turning away from the mirror she went to grab her jacket and go meet the lawyer downstairs.
**********************************
When they exited the elevator, the couple from Colorado found Alex waiting in the lobby for them, she rose from her chair and walked to meet them, “Good morning,” she said giving them both a light hug, “What would you like to do first this morning?”
Janet smiled at her, “I thought we’d go easy on Sam and wait until this afternoon to do the shopping,” she replied, giving her partner a nudge.
“Gee thanks,“ Sam muttered but grinned at the doctor.
“Well that’s settled; how about visiting a museum then?” Alex asked the pair.
They started walking towards the front doors and Janet asked, ”Didn’t you tell me about a new exhibit at the Guggenheim yesterday?”
“Yes… they have a wonderful new selection of Impressionist paintings; would you like to go there?” Alex told her as they walked through the doors with Sam trailing behind them.
“Sounds perfect,” Janet replied as the lawyer asked the attendant to hail them a taxi.
“What…no limo?” Sam asked Alex.
“The traffic is a little too much during the day to drive around in that huge thing,“ Alex replied with a small laugh, “it’s much easier to maneuver it at night.”
“Ah…gotcha,” Sam said rocking back on her heels as they waited for the taxi.
Soon a yellow taxi pulled over to the curb, the attendant held the door open for them as they climbed inside and Alex told the driver the destination then the trio was off to check out the museum.
*****************************
A few hours later found them just finishing with the tour of the Guggenheim, Janet and Alex had spent the entire time discussing the different works while Sam trailed along behind them. She feigned interest in the works of art but what she was really doing was keeping an eye on their surroundings and the people wandering through the museum; she wouldn’t put it past Hathor to have someone following them and so she kept watching for anyone paying close attention to them as they toured the different rooms.
Janet left Alex’s side and came to stand beside her partner as she studied a painting, “Alright…you’re not looking at the paintings…I’ve been sneaking glances back and you have that watchdog look on your face. Have you spotted anyone suspicious?”
“Nope…doesn’t mean there isn’t someone watching us though…I just wanted to keep an eye open that’s all,” Sam told the doctor, “and I have been studying the paintings too,” she added with a grin, “I liked the ones by Monet and Cezanne the best, the ones by Degas were just a bit on the frilly side what with all the tutus.”
Janet gave her partner a shocked look, “There’s hope for you yet I think,” she remarked a bit sarcastically and this earned her a tongue poke from the taller woman. Chuckling to herself the doctor left her partner’s side to catch up with Alex, they were going to browse through the gift shop before meeting Olivia for lunch and she hoped to find a few nice things to take back for Cassie.
Half an hour later Sam trailed behind the other two women as they left the museum, she had been designated bag holder and now carried several parcels containing gifts for Cassie along with a few for their friends. She had actually gotten a kick out of the little reproduction Janet picked out to give Jack, a man catching a huge fish; she thought it was perfect for him. Alex had called Olivia while Janet was paying for their items and the detective was meeting them at the bistro they ate at the day before, since Sam professed a love for the pastrami sandwiches made by the little restaurant.
Hailing a taxi the trio piled in and made their way to the bistro; when the taxi stopped in front of the eatery they exited to find Liv waiting on them at the same table they had sat at the day before. Sam placed the bags in an extra chair, moving it closer to their table then she and the detective went to order the food for their partners like before leaving Janet and Alex to talk.
“That was fun…thank you for taking us,” the doctor told Alex, “it was nice to have someone to actually talk with about the different works.”
Alex laughed softly, “I saw what you meant about Sam not being interested in artwork, she looked like she was trying though,” she told the doctor.
“Yes…she was paying closer attention than I thought,” Janet remarked, knowing what her partner was really studying just made her a little jumpy sitting out in the open though and she glanced around their surroundings; not seeing anything out of the ordinary to her but then Sam was trained to observe in situations like this much better than she was. Give her a sick patient any day and she could tell you what was wrong just by watching them react to different stimuli, this was not really her cup of tea.
Their partners soon returned with the food and Alex remarked, ”That was fast.”
Liv removed her leather jacket, laying it across the back of her chair, “Well we got here before the rush, “ she replied.
Sam noticed the holstered weapon and badge on her hip before she sat down then sighing she removed her jacket also; ‘I guess I need to get this part over with quick,‘ she thought as she turned her back to place her jacket over her own chair, knowing full well the holstered gun in her waistband could be seen now.
“Please tell me you have a permit to carry that,” Olivia commented pointing at the Beretta.
Before she sat down Sam pulled out her credentials and tossed them on the table, sitting down she waited as the detective picked them up and looking over them she handed them back to Sam, “Well at least I don’t have to arrest you now,” she said with a grin to her new friend. “But where did you get it? I thought you were just on vacation?” she asked.
“Well after yesterday I made phone call to a friend and he sent it to me this morning; I just felt safer having it with me…for protection,” she told the detective.
The other two women watched as their partners now started discussing their sidearms, Janet rolled her eyes and Alex laughed, “We might as well take our food and leave Janet, we’re invisible now,” she joked with the doctor.
The detective and the major both stopped talking at the remark and shot their partners shocked looks, “Like we could ever ignore the two of you,” Liv said, giving Sam a wink and then picked up her sandwich taking a big bite, smiling while she chewed.
“Oh yeah you’re right Liv…no way could ignore two beautiful woman; we’d just be stupid to do that,” Sam replied.
Both remarks earned the two women raised eyebrows and potato chips thrown their way as Alex and Janet retaliated then laughed loudly at the hurt looks their partners gave them. After that little bit of horseplay the women settled down to eat their lunch, making small talk amongst themselves; Alex and Janet discussed what shops they would soon be headed to while Sam and Liv continued with the gun talk.
“So are you any good with that piece?” Liv asked.
Pausing in mid-bite Sam gave her a grin, “Wanna find out?”
“Do I detect a challenge in that remark?” asked Liv returning the grin.
“Maybe…question is are you up for it?” Sam replied and took a bite from her sandwich.
Janet had kept an ear open to the conversation coming from the pair across from her and Alex, shaking her head she told the lawyer, “Okay…I’m waiting for them to actually pull the guns out to see whose is bigger.”
Alex laughed so hard tears formed in her eyes, regaining her composure she replied, “Oh that was just too good Janet; do you really think they’d do that?”
Shrugging Janet turned to look at her partner and Liv, they both had grown quiet, having stopped their conversation to learn the cause of Alex’s outburst, “What?” Janet asked the pair.
Sam gave Liv a wicked smile and reached around her back to grab her gun, Liv started to do the same thing and Alex spoke up, “Olivia Benson don’t you dare!” at the same time Janet let out a sharp response of, “Samantha!”
Both women held up their hands and gave their partners big smiles and then Liv glanced at her watch, “Oh crap…I need to get back to the precinct; are you ready to go Sam?”
“Yeah…I’m finished,” Sam said to her as she stood up from the table, gathering her trash.
“We’ll meet the two of you back at the hotel say around five…is that okay?” Liv told the two women still seated as she stood up.
“That sounds fine,” Alex replied when she saw Janet nod as well.
Sam pulled on her jacket and then reaching in her pocket she took out her wallet, removing a credit card she handed it to Janet, “Here put some of that hazard pay to good use,” she told her partner.
“Are you sure?” asked Janet.
“Yeah…have fun while you can,” Sam replied growing serious for just a moment and then she gave Janet a smile and bent down kissing her on the cheek, pausing before she rose back up she whispered, “I mean it…tonight the vacation ends.”
Janet gave her a concerned look and cupped her cheek, pulling Sam’s head back for a slow kiss, “Don’t do anything stupid without me okay?” she whispered back after breaking the kiss.
“Never,” replied Sam softly.
Alex and Olivia gave each other confused looks as they watched the couple, both could tell something serious was happening but they didn’t know what. Sam stood back up and turned to Liv, “Ready?”
Liv nodded, moving to give Alex a goodbye kiss then she and Sam left the other two women, walking away towards the SVU precinct. They watched their partners walk away and then Alex turned to the doctor who was dabbing at her eyes with a napkin, “Okay I really don’t mean to be nosy but what just happened?”
Sighing Janet looked up at the lawyer, “I have some things to tell you and as unbelievable as they may sound I need you to believe me; we may need your help before the night is over with,” she said.
Alex just gave her a confused look but nodded the whole time thinking to herself, ‘Finally…some answers.’
*******************************
Sam walked along the sidewalk beside the detective, her hands stuffed in her pockets and a somber look on her face. Olivia kept glancing over at the blonde-haired woman and finally she couldn’t hold it in any longer, “Okay…so…am I finally going to learn what you really do for a living?” she asked as they walked.
Looking over at the detective, “Yeah…I might need your help with something big tonight, so you will have to know the truth as weird as it may sound; I’m going to tell you some things and you have to swear not to mention them to anyone else. I had to get special clearance just to involve you and Alex so don’t let it come back to bite me,” Sam told her.
Olivia stopped in the middle of the sidewalk, she looked at the serious expression on the other woman’s face, “You can trust us Sam…I swear,” she said in a serious tone.
“Good…now before I tell you let’s spend a little time hanging out…I need to relax a little before things get all serious,” Sam told her with a small smile.
“Alright then…I’ll show you around the squad room…introduce you to the guys then we can go someplace and have that talk…sound good to you?” Liv asked.
“Sounds perfect,” Sam replied.
The women began walking again…one’s thoughts on what she would have to tell and the other’s on what she would soon learn…both wondering what the night would bring.
