useless thoughts, useless unanswerable questions

I was drinking when I wrote this so forgive me if it goes to nowhere…

An Ethnic-Jew-Agnostic friend of mine where talking one day during our work break on the U of M campus and the conversation left me with these thoughts.

The dichotomy of:

Moslem women wearing the vail and walking behind men.

It is as much a perversion as?

An American/Western woman scarifying her body with tattoos

Why would a man assume both have to do with sex?

Walking behind the men it’s more than a control tactic. It’s meant to be demeaning. If you were really worried about controlling someone wouldn’t you have them walk in front of you in order to monitor their behavior?

Is it for a desire to protect? In most cases this would be complete bullshit, in the ghetto it might make sense though. Still I would think you would want them closer to you in order to more easily manage their position in relation to an attacker, perhaps even on the inside in relation to the street.

It does seem something weird is happening in the world. Maybe there is some sort of moral decay going on.

Is it just a result of rapid globalization or am I reading too much into it all together, buying into the fear?I can’t shake the feeling that culture seems to be shifting in an unfamiliar direction or is this just the surfacing fears of an aging man, growing away from youth enough to the point of xenophobia.

Reproductive rights?

Does this all boil down to masculine preoccupation with sex???

I can’t help but feel more lost, more confused, no real answers.

Are blacks really more tribalistic or is this more sexually motivated xenophobia?

Does it really do any good to ask these questions?

What is behind the scorn and exaltation paradox America has for it’s Negro.
