yes or no

I belong to the starwars LJ community and today there was a yes/no poll posted on whether fanfic/slashfic should be included in said community. I am currently having a back n' forth about freedom of speech and inclusiveness with the poster of this poll.

So far there are more NO votes than YES, so the people who enjoy writing fiction, cross posting icons, and mixing up pairings like say R2D2 in love with Padme (a fake extreme example) are voted literally out of the group by a majority vote. I dunno, I think that is not what is meant by community.

This is a general star wars community and to my knowledge has no particular slant except that it is a star wars group. Nor does it appear to have any rules excluding any SW niche you might care to post.
I find that amazing. Apparently, the majority does not. I don't even LIKE most slash-fanfic (mostly because it is so poorly written from a technical storytelling standpoint in alot of cases).

BUT THAT IS JUST AN OPINION. I think they should be able to say and post whatever they wish.
Should it be screened for adult content and only those wishing to see may be allowed to? YES.
Voted completely off the island because a majority dislikes it? NO.

What do you think? Read for yourself below. I encourage you to comment there.
