New Thoughts

This morning I had a dream that involved Shreddies. Since I awoke I've been craving these tasty grids like a mad man!

Last night I had the pleasure of hanging out with Katy Harwood and Leigh Dunham. As always, I love sitting around chitting the chat. One topic that was briefly discussed was the difference between light cigarettes and regulars or full flavor.

Tobacco companies designed light cigarettes with tiny pinholes on the filters. These "filter vents" dilute cigarette smoke with air when light cigarettes are "puffed" on by smoking machines, causing the machines to measure artificially low tar and nicotine levels. [link]
(assuming you read the article) Messed up, eh? Also interesting that they sometimes use faster-burning paper.

'Nuff of that.

Lately I've been hooked on webdesign. I recently did a site for The Februarys. Of all the sites I've done recently, the layout of this one is my favorite. I'm also a big fan of the orange.

It's interesting to hear people's ideas on what a bands website should be. Colin was saying that he loved when bands had tonnes of links he could go through.. thus, he didn't appreciate the beauty and splendor of the right section with everything you'd ever need to know.

When I go to a bands website, I don't want to click around for hours trying to find crap. I usually only go to their websites for tour information anyways -- so maybe this is where we differ. That said, I'm right and anyone who disagrees is naturally wrong.

I also designed their CD art. I'm really excited to see this all printed, I hope it comes out looking as sexy as I think it should. All proceeds of this art goes towards my new camera.

I chose to purchase the Canon Powershot S80 from the Dell.ca website (it was the cheapest I could find -- +15% off and free shipping). I had a very strict criteria since I didn't really want to spend a lot of money on something substandard. The 'must have' list is as follows:

- High Resolution (8MP)
 - Lithium Battery (why have the reoccurring cost of duracells?!)
 - Large Screen on the back (2.5")
 - Direct USB connection
 - Fully Manual override and other "slr-like" settings

The "nice to have" list:

- takes video at 30FPS until the memory card is full
 - takes a Compact Flash card (this runs on SD)
 - External Battery Charger (so I can have two or three batteries if I want)

I was pleasantly surprised when CNET gave this camera their editors review. I also like the looks of it -- the basic 'silver camera' is so boring. The real gem on this camera is the menu knob on the side -- most other cameras I looked at had the settings on the top which made it hard to change without moving your hand. This also has a lovely OSD for setting changes. Yeeah!

Today I going sweater shopping -- it's all I can think to do while Christina is busy writing essays. I'll model what I return with...
