..than either Patti or myself.. BUT
I'll betcha our kitchen has more windows to look out of...!
About 30 years ago, at my mother's request, I built this room onto the house. Intentionally I created it with lots of windows which I had purchased at a local farm auction, and then built the room around the window dimensions. Not knowing what I am doing has never really stopped me from plunging into these kinds of things..
We called it the "sun room" because it would get really light and warm and the old girl would spend many an afternoon sitting on the couch, knitting or reading the wall street journal.
Fast forward 30 years.
Now.. both "gramma" and the "sun room" are long gone. Somehow, this sun-lit-up place has become a kitchen.. Who'da thunk that?!
At the time of my building the room, if someone would have told me that it would someday become the kitchen area, I would have thought them to be an idiot.
But hey.., a kitchen it did become. ..and it works well enough.. not perfect mind you, but good enough to get the job done.
Anyway.. one of my favorite things is to pretend being a Chef out here in the summer time. (as you might imagine, winter time is not so hot with so much UNinsulated window space.. brrrr).
I crack a beer... (Hey Patti! whatta ya want for dinner?! ..she never answers me..).. so I put on some rice.. doctor up the beans.. warm up the taco shells.. cut the lettuce and tomatoes.. sip some more beer, ..sometimes listen to music, lean up against the glass counter, my chin in hand and just gaze out at the natural world... occasionally giving everthing on the stove a little stir or two in the process. ,,turn down the fire.. then another sip of beer. (you can't see the gas stove in this photo.. it's tucked away from view on the other side of the fridge.)
No neighboring houses to block my view.. no cars zooming by.. no concrete anything, or towering buildings to look at.. just the trees swaying in the breeze, and the birds being really noisy and... our being able to see it all, right there in front of us.. the whole bloomin' universe stretching our forever, just outside our window.
It's nice. I like it a lot.
Lessee.. tonight's gourmet dining shall be ..ummm... ummmm.. ah! hey! How 'bout some spagetti?!.. yes.. good ole spagetti.... Chef Spagett at yer service, m'lady!
(Patteeee! would you open this jar for me?)
the two windows on the right are the two kitchen windows in the top pic..
