the eve of destruction

Nov 21, 2024 15:02

It is 2:50 PM Thursday afternoon here in south western Michigan. It is 37 degrees, cloudy, and wet. It rained snow and ice today. Some areas of Michigan we covered with snow today. When I got up this morning there was a layer of frost on the ground. Winter is slowly approaching. I got out of bed just as Carol was leaving for PT. I spent the morning writing in my paper diary and reading from a book/commentary 'The Psalms A Christ-Centered Commentary' Volume 2 Psalms 1-50 by Christopher Ash. I read something else but the titled of this book right now it escapes me. (I read, 'Distinctive Marks Of Saving Faith' by Alexander Comrie Translated By Bartel Elshout And Edited By Joel R. Beeke)

This afternoon I have been reading, 'Romantic Moderns-English Writers, Artists, and the Imagination from Virginia Woolf to John Piper' Art history/biography by Alexandra Harris. (also read when not falling asleep this afternoon, 'John Singer Sargent' Art history/biography by Carter Ratcliff)

Carol got home around today around 1:05 PM, she quickly ate lunch and then left to go help fold church bulletins. It has been a simple day for me. There is not much else to report this afternoon. Last night I read from these three books before going to bed-'Bob Dylan Highway 61 Revisited' music history/biography by Colin Irwin, 'Polostan' historical fiction by Neal Stephenson, and 'Koylma Stories' by Varlam Shalamov Translated By Donald Rayfield.

I am tired as usual. This afternoon I am mildly surprised I am not freaking out because of ALL the horror events going on in America, the Middle East, and in Eastern Europe. America and the world could be headed for World War III. Here is a America who knows what President Trump will do when he is inaugurated as our next President in January 2025. The world is spinning out of control-chaos-war-global warming-wickedness in high places of power on and on it goes.

Pss.15
[1] LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
[2] He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
[3] He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
[4] In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.
[5] He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.
