overcame the devil

Nov 15, 2024 14:42

It is 2:32 PM Friday afternoon here in Holland Michigan. It is 51 degrees, cold, wet, and icy gray skies. We are coming to the end of Autumn and soon will be in the Winter season. It usually snows before the end of November. But the weather experts are predicting a warm Winter. We had a mild Winter Year 2024 here in Michigan. Maybe we will have another mild Winter 2025.

I got up around 7 o'clock AM, as I was getting up Carol was leaving to have breakfast with a childhood friend. I had a quiet morning writing in my paper diary and reading from a book titled, 'The Way of the Spirit in Bringing Souls to Christ' by Thomas Allen (1608-1673).

Carol came home from having breakfast with a friend and then immediately left to go visit someone in Grand Haven who is a member of her church. Carol picked up on the way an elderly lady who is a member of her church to visit this woman who is mentally challenged/lives in a nursing home.

Carol got home around 1:30 PM from her call. I have been dozing and reading from a book titled, 'The Thirties: An Intimate History' (a history of Great Britain in the 1930's) by Juliet Gardiner.

I won't go into the last night since it is all in the Past. I will close to drift into the evening hours. Tomorrow will be a Saturday, college football. Carol to drive over to Grand Rapids tomorrow morning to visit a friend who is in a hospital due to having a stroke last week. The very idea of driving to Grand Rapids makes me feel sick inside. I do not want to go anywhere till it is all over. I am barely holding on these days. There is moments during the day I feel I might crack-up. If I feel like I am going to lose it I can always take a Xanax. I just keep crying out to the Lord to keep me from drowning.

"[9] For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
[10] And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
[11] In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
[12] Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
[13] And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
[14] Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
[15] And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it." Colossians 2:9-15
