First off and most importantly:
marijke1985, WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU? Come back!!
Wow, so much has happened since the accident.
Bad news: The repairs would cost way more than expected, approx $1550. That's a whole shitload of money. That would also max out my credit card. I can talk about it lightly now, but I was pretty upset at the time.
Good news: Fuck repairing that car, I don't even want it! My parents would sell it to me for $2000, a little less than what it was worth before the accident. This means I could either sell it or trade it in for a new car. Guess which option I was going for on this one...
Bad news: Who the fuck is going to take this shitty car? It's only worth between $700-$1200 (depending on who you talk to) after the accident.
Good news: Nissan in Watertown is currently offering a Push-Pull-or-Tow deal with a $3000 minimum trade-in allowance. Holy Shit, that's amazing.
Bad news: I want a Toyota, not a Nissan.
Good news: Fuck Toyota, I want a Nissan! Both the Versa and the Sentra look pretty awesome. I'm not even sure why I was so into the Yaris... the Versa is way better. I haven't actually physically looked at these cars yet, but everything I've seen online is hot. And good prices--nothing over $17,000 including options so far. Ok, so I buy the Subaru, get the title transferred to my name, trade it in, and get a new car (maybe even this weekend!).
Bad news: The fucking DMV... the bastards... can't transfer the title because my name isn't primary on the insurance. And also, it'll take 2-3 months... I don't have that kind of time. And Nissan definitely won't be offering the same deal then. Nobody will, because it'll be the beginning of the year and all the new models will be out.
Good news? Bad news? I dunno yet: The DMV lady said that the dealer might take it anyway, even if it's in my dad's name. If not, they might take it if he agrees to co-own the new car. And if the answer is still no, the guy who was going to fix the Subaru offered to buy it for $1000-$1500. So in the worst case scenario, I lose out $1000 instead of $1500 for repairs. Regardless, I get a new car!!! Although the down payment will be tricky if I can't do the trade-in.
So these are the 2 most likely options right now. I'm going to check them out and speak to the Nissan salesman after work tomorrow. Luckily Mike's coming with me. I definitely won't commit to the sale until this weekend at the earliest. I can't wait to have it done though!
Top choice right now: The Nissan Versa
Second choice: The Nissan Sentra
