The Senate first voted 63-34 to make English the national language after lawmakers who led the effort said it would promote national unity.
About time!!! I'm all for different cultures and nationalities. But what if there was a large influx of Americans in Germany that refused to learn German and still lived there permanently. I would say they would be alienating themselves by refusing to assimilate to some degree. I would tell them to hike their ass back to America.
The same goes for all the illegals and legals here. There's nothing wrong with a little ethnocentrism. But if your here to stay, that means your American and you better put effort in being one.
