Leigh and I made our first additions to the new tropical tank in our apartment the other day. We picked up 3 tiny fish from Petland called "Porkchop Rasboras". Wow they're small! The tank, which is only a 20g, is like an ocean to them! Now then, they're supposed to be schooling fish and we were advised to buy them in trio's or more but it seems that only 2 of them like to hang out. The 3rd stays secluded in the top corner of the tank by our thermometer. It never leaves that corner. We're not sure if it's due to stress or perhaps something else but we are a little concerned for it. Maybe it just needs some time to get used to the new home, maybe we need to pick up another fish or two for it to get my comfortable. Whatever the case, I just hope it's eating. Leigh and I are very excited for this tank and can't wait to add more fish to it!
During our adventure to Petland we naturally spent some time wandering around the store looking at the other animals. During this trek I had an encounter with a grumpy parrot-like bird. There were two birds who were apparently brother & sister. Leigh picked up the girl and I picked up the boy. The girl was very sweet and enjoyed our attention. The boy on the other hand was apparently having a bad day and decided to attack me! Well...ok not really attack, but he really bit my fingers and thumb extremely hard (broke skin and made me bleed). I wasn't doing anything to him, other then holding him and suddenly out of nowhere I became his chew toy. Holy crap those things can bite hard! Owch! It could have easily peirced my hand. After putting the bird down I was approached by a worker who apologized, offered a band-aid and some cream. I told her not to worry about it and that it wasn't her fault. I just hope the bird doesn't go chomping on some little kid. I'm scared of some psychotic mother flipping out and demanding the bird be put down.
Other updates from the weekend include Afterglow coming back and helping out with Back 2 The Future this year. I'm very excited and proud to be a part of this show! The ideas people are putting forward for this show are incredible and if we end up doing even just half of the stuff that we're planning then this will be one helluva show! I'm not saying this for the sake of promotion - I'm saying this cuz I am very impressed and excited to see everything come together! This new years is going to rock!
One thing I am trying to promote right now however is the new (well...sorta new) clubnight that I'm starting up with with a few other guys. No doubt you've seen my previous posts for it. Everything starts up on October 3 and I'm very excited! I hope it goes well...the night has really died off during the last several months. I believe it may have been due to the lack of promotion and lack of talented performers being booked. Hopefully we can turn things around and start bringing people back out. Wednesday is a tough day to promote, but as the cover is only $3 hopefully that will entice people to come listen to good music and enjoy a few drinks in a relaxing atmosphere. We'll soon find out how the night goes...
If you're on our Facebook group may I request that you invite your friends to join as well? The majority of our promotion will be handled online via Facebook, LJ, emails, TvT, etc...Facebook seems to be the most popular place to promote these days so the more people we get on our group the better. I invited everyone on my friends list (to those of you who are out of town feel free to ignore the request for obvious reasons hehe). I even invited Mike Foyle to join and he's from England hehe. The more people we reach out to the high the chance of us succeeded....$3 is not a lot of money to come spend an hour or so on a Wednesday night hanging out with friends and enjoying good tunes.
I think that's just about all the updates for now. Vinyl Fantasy is coming up this friday and should be a good time. I'm DJ'ing for my cousins wedding on Saturday which should be...interesting.
Ya I think that's about it for now.
