Thoughts on a birthday - reality part 12

The world is an ever changing place; that is a fact. We can see it with the people who surround us; as they change jobs, suffer through hardship, date new people, get married, and start to have kids. We know it changes rapidly, so why does it catch us off guard when these changes happen. One day a women you fantasized about tells you she's having another mans baby. The next, a friend you've know since you were a kid tells you he is fighting for his life. You experience the changes in their lives as though they are happening in yours. But changes in your life seem inconsequential; you feel the same now as you did the day you started college. Has your life changed in the same way, are you just too close to the situation to see what's happening?

Nature shows us that a living entity is never neutral. A sapling may look the same summer after summer, but when compared, it has grown. It's branches grow a bit every year, more leaves yield overall growth. Before long, what was a sapling has grown, and we along with it. We've shared the journey, the adventures and the pain.

When we stop and reflect, all of our lives change; some of us take different paths. While some are anxious to start families and buy houses, others adventure to find themselves and what makes them happy. In the end, we all have stories about the trip to who we are, and that is what makes us individuals. That is what makes us.
