Test, and Star Trek: When They Were Hot

Jun 08, 2009 10:06

Test went well, I'm glad it (and the studying) are over. I was a little nervous at first, but got into the flow and it just flew by. I won't know how I did for up to 6 weeks, but I'm pretty sure I passed, which is what counts. It would have been nice if I could have gotten some sleep the night before, though.

Afterward, we went at saw Star Trek at the historic dinner theater downtown. In case you haven't seen it, I will discuss some plot points, so you have been alerted to spoilers. I enjoyed it quite a bit, and I'm grateful for a wonderful wife who'd take me to see it. On the other hand, I think JJ Abrams should stay away from time travel. Either he doesn't understand it, or he doesn't understand what science fiction is, or both. I'm also a little confused by the amount of weaponry carried on a Romulan mining ship, and why a squadron of ships would come out of warp so close to a planet sending out distress signals. I did enjoy the silence of space, and the effort to make the operation of starships look more complicated. I also think it was very selfless of old Spock to volunteer to help populate the Vulcan race; I think he's going to need a lot of Sildenafil.
