The most common advice from the best dog trainers seems to be just be calm and assertive. If he already knows how to sit, you could work that into getting him to not be super jumpy.
One of the things that really seemed to work with my dog when he tried to jump was to turn around and ignore him. Sometimes if you try to push him off or tell him no he would just think you were playing, but if you turn your back he gets that you're not amused. >:3

Yeah, that's what we've been trying. He's not catching on quite as quickly as his other lessons XD;; But it's still the first week.
