The best part about working for Gamestop is without a doubt the game access >:3
I've been able to play a bunch of games lately that I wouldn't be able to otherwise over the last few weeks. And now I wanna talk about them!
(
Saw the game - yes I did play it pffft )
I still haven't had time to finish the second one yet because of work. I guess when you have a more permanent job that would look bad that you got fired from it, you take the gaming less seriously. Oh well, that's what Christmas break is for. I plan on beating several games that I haven't had the chance to yet.
How are you liking Game Stop?
Also, another temp job you might qualify for in your state is substitute teaching. If you don't mind dealing with kids for seven to eight hours a day on a part time basis, it might be a good gig until you get more work in other places. It will all depend on what your state pays per day though. I live in Texas where teachers make a decent living wage compared to other fields, so the substitutes get paid a decent (not nearly as good as the teachers of course) amount per day. Here it ranges from about 75-85 per day depending on your level of experience (no degree with enough college hours, degree, teaching certification). There is usually a raise to after you've completed enough jobs.
Again, it's just a suggestion if you need something. I did it when I couldn't find work in my field and it worked out great for me.

I'm liking Gamestop fine but I'm not sure if they're liking me! I haven't gotten any hours for a while, even now, when supposedly they need the most help. My boss insisted it's not because I've done poorly or anything, but it's a little frustrating. I really hope the office job comes through because I'm starting to think GS is gonna let me go once the holidays are over.
Must take advantage of employee benefits as much as possible...!!
And thanks for the advice, but to be honest I have nowhere near the amount of patience needed to deal with school kids XD;;. My sister is a teacher and I'm amazed how you people do it. Even retail doesn't scare me as much as standing in front of a class of little monsters, lol.

That seems to be a theme with game stops everywhere. They hire alot of help for Christmas, but only use the people they are familiar with. My husband is lucky in that he's in management, so he's immune to that. However, since he's living at the end of the year, his boss hasn't been working him as much. I'm not sure, but my husband hasn't minded too much. I mind because that means his last paychecks will be crappy and right now we could use the extra money.
Little monsters, lol. I stuck to junior highs and high schools because the elementary kids scared the crap out of me. Those young ones like to hug on you and stuff. I was scared out of my mind the first few times I was up in front a class full of kids. Eventually I got over being afraid and learned a good lesson: always act like you know what you're doing and the students will most likely listen to you. A semblance of authority goes a long way with those little manipulators.
It is a job that takes alot of patience and I can understand not having enough. I've had to deal and get over a lot of things that make me mad in order to have a good day in this field.
Good luck trying to get more hours with that office job. If that doesn't pan out, I would try a temp. agency. Hopefully, more work will come your way for translations.
