I saw the new DMC trailer the other day, but I was with my male gaming friend and didn't feel like I could properly rant about it at the time, so here it is.

The new trailer has some kind of news announcer declaring Tameem Dante a "terrorist" and a "SEXUAL DEVIANT

All I can say at this point is that I'm glad the original style Dante isn't involved in any of this ridiculous bullshit. This is the first I've heard of this, but maybe Capcom will get a fucking clue from this that it may not be a fantastic idea to hire some asshole to write for a game series he doesn't know the first thing about

The comment is made by some kind of news anchor describing the "terrorist" Dante. It's clear that the guy is already prejudiced against Dante (possibly a game antagonist) so I'm not sure if we're supposed to hear it and just think "Wow, what a nutjob!" But there are people today who still talk like that, about all manner of sexualities and sexual practices, so I can't help but be leery of NT's intentions.

Capcom in general is just so full of fail lately. It's like they're TRYING to piss off their fans. The last game of theirs I really enjoyed was Asura's Wrath, and now they're announcing a ton of add-on chapters. Normally that wouldn't bother me, but when you've already been charged full price for a 5 hour game that ends on a cliffhanger, being asked to pay for the game's ACTUAL ending is a seriously bitch move.

YES. I actually yelled "WESKER REPRODUCED?!" at the screen when I saw the RE6 trailer last night.

I can't bring myself to watch the DmC trailer; apparently Dante has angel AND demon powers now! What a good widdle Gary Stu.

Dragon's Dogma is probably the only big Capcom game I'm buying this year, but that's the one that's really going to flop so :DDD

My friend and I watched it together and had a conversation something like:

Me: Wait, how old is this guy!? I thought it was like 30!?
Friend: I don't know!
Me: How old is Wesker!?
Fiend: I don't know!
Me: Who is the MOTHER!?
Fiend: Maybe he and Excella--
Me: THAT MAKES NO SENSE!!!

And wahhhhhh maybe Ada was being metaphorical!? I just don't know.

Yeah, I saw that. My first reaction was to lol, after which Not!Dante was, as you say, naked and I lol'd some more and promptly forgot all about the comment in favour of going "Ooooh cooooool

I'm a Japanese major, so I'm used to seeing translations in games that make me side-eye them (especially in DMC) but the game is being made by England-based Ninja Theory, so I don't know that the dialogue would have ever been written in Japanese to begin with. In context of the scene, "exhibitionist" or even just "pervert" would have fit a lot better

Wow. I had no idea about *any* of that. This is why I pay almost zero attention to game development progress and articles prior to release. When it's released and everyone says "game play sucks", sure, then I pay a bit more attention and will purchase or not depending on how bad it is.

NT's guy Tameem said, "If Dante, dressed as he was, walked into any bar outside of Tokyo, he’d get laughed out." He then went on to say that Dante had outlived his cool and that in order to make him cool today, they would have to draw on modern fashion and cultural influences. Which is why he designed new Dante with a British 70s punk vibe. Because that's so modern, lol.

The new gameplay in the trailer I'll admit looks better, but I've heard something about Devil Trigger that I'm not excited about (such as, it'll last as long as you're able to remain airborne? I am not a good juggler ;_;). I'm just hoping one of my friends will get the game so I can try it out without putting any money down.

The more I hear about the New DMC, the more I just end up remembering why the creator left in the first place. It just seems to me the new developers are just being really misguided in a sense? Like they're trying to 'OUT COOL' the first Dante or go out of their way to show how it's a different interpretation, which ok, whatever make him edgy that's fine or give him your own spin that's all right. But it seems to me, the way they're approaching it just seems like it's turning into some kind of pissing contest, about how much more HARDCORE Dante is. Something about how desperate they are to make this Dante so EDGY just rubs me the wrong way...

Then again, I can't talk, I adore Suda51 and he's had worse stuff than this in his games...

I think half my problem with the whole thing is Ninja Theory's attitude. They've been asked to update what many people consider to be a gaming icon, and they have only a handful of mediocre games under their belt; they have no reason to be so cocky about it. Normally I'm not so spiteful as to wish a game to fail just because, but NT and Capcom have been pissing on their fans a lot latley, I'd like for them to get a wakeup call.

I still don't understand this "Wesker is immune to the negative effects of viruses" bullcrap. He spent all of RE5 dosing up because otherwise his virus would rage out of control, no!? And Uroboros itself was pretty damn negative. Makes no sense to me that his kid OR his clone would be the ultimate in immunity.

The only thing I'm super excited about in this game is Chris vs Leon. That is just hawt.
