Chapters
So it's been just over a month since I started at Chapters. It's going pretty well. I have been appointed giftware guru extraordinaire. Basically I spend a lot of time in receiving opening boxes and unloading giftware onto the shelves on the floor. The receiving room actually isn't too bad... the receiver, Dave, plays music and you can generally chat all you like. I usually chat with Alan, the magazine guy.
So giftware seemed like a monumental task at the beginning, but once you get into it the time really flies... moreso than when you are just put on the floor to help customers find books. I am highly organized and obsessive compulsive about tidiness, so naturally my section is the cleanest in the store lol. I have been getting a lot of compliments from the 3 managers about how good a job I have been doing, almost on the daily basis. It's nice to be at a job where people actually appreciate you. In the past 2 weeks we have been given $15 worth of free Starbucks from the managers & Starbucks staff. I LOVE PEOPLE THAT GIVE ME COFFEE!!!! I also got an "i Thank-You" card for all my tireless work as giftware guru extraordinaire. :D
Thinking back to how much I HATED and DESPISED the Cleaners... how I dreaded only 4 hours at that wreched place... and how, now at Chapters, I can work an 8 hour day, then a 5 hour day, then a 6 hour day, then another 5 hour day all in a row and not be bothered in the least. It's not my dream job by any stretch, but it'll certainly do for now. Until my inevitable movie stardom stakes effect. Heh. :P
Sidenote: we should have the script for our student feature film next week. I am excited to shoot on a Hollywood western town set! Ahh the perks of having your acting instructor form a production company. ;D Now if I can just convince him to cast Johnny Depp in something...
