Training Day
So we had our first shift on the floor today. We started the day with a couple of hours going over the sales technique in the boardroom.
We were supposed to give examples of some books we noticed in certain spots. One girl said she noticed Buffy books which started a dialog about why the hell they're still making Buffy books. I turns out my boss, Darren, LOVES Buffy. He's got all the season box sets and shit! His reaction "you know WARREN?!" was particularly amusing. He then likened our training experience to the Buffy episode "Life Serial" when Buffy got a job at the Magic Box. :D
I also spent several minutes having a conversation with one of the senior staff members, Dave, about Johnny Depp and Christian Bale movies. Nice to know there are people there with similar interests.
The job is pretty easy really. Just shelving books and helping customers. It's SOOOOOO much better than the Cleaners!! My boss is SUPER nice and easy going. The group I was training with is great... all really nice and easy to get along with. They're not at all strict on hours or anything, so all in all pretty accomodating and considerate of everyone's individual schedules.
Biggest complaint of the day... my feet hurt from the black leather shoes I wore. They were the only black shoes I had and they're NOT made for walking. I guess I'll have to pick myself up some cushy shoes for work. My new pants are being hemmed and my freshly-cleaned Chapters vest now smells like Bounce! So far so good people!
