I guess there's one of those picture memes going around like this? I've been doing this awkward format for quite a few years so here it is again!
at the end of 2008 I said "I imagine 2009 will have an eyeshield focus, and maybe more original characters. new series don't really take me by surprise, but there's always the possibility." that was creepily accurate, as I was pretty invested in eyeshield (and turning the characters into girls) until april, when the 493 project started. this is also when I really started coloring again, as well as my serious venture into the dreaded backgrounds. I'd never thought I'd say this, but backgrounds are becoming my favorite thing to draw/paint.
so I made a gradual shift from eyeshield to pokemon, then to pokemon OCs come september. then an insane amount of comics. mediawise, I carry on using photoshop, though in the last few months I shifted from throwing the sharpen filter on anything, to using a soft blur. I think backgrounds and comics have boosted my composition skills up a notch. I don't see any major style changes, other than more emphasis on body types and face shapes, which I'm still trying to push for most originality.
next year I predict to see even more pokemon, and my various OCs in pokemon OCTs. with oofuri getting season two, I might relapse into that series. but again, I don't foresee any new series, just revisiting my favorites again and again! what I want to do is use more real media, so I don't get too dependent...
