I know the mods have made a statement about using lj-cuts when posting questionable material, but you may want to consider that many of us use the RSS feed for this community since we aren't regular LJ users...and the lj-cut tag doesn't work for anyone unless they view the entry from LJ. Also, viewing the cut is only an option. I know many users ( Read more... )

I'm sorry, but I'm having a hard time understanding what the implications are for RSS feed users. I don't know what that is, or how it works. Would you mind elaborating? Thanks!

The RSS feeds I use don't put photos up, I don't know about any other services.

It's basically a site that consolidates all of the blosg you read into one page so you can read them alltogether.

If you people are having problems reading the subjects before you click on them, that's your problem. The ones I've seen have put appropriate titles for their subjects, and if you don't like the subject matter. i wouldn't suggest clicking on the site.

The entries all appear in their entirety except if an LJ cut is used, so it is not a matter of just not "clicking on the site," because the content is going to show up on your computer screen if you go to your friends page ( ... )

I was referring to RSS feeds, not LJ friends list. I thought I specified that. :)

I know, my basic point in writing all of that out was to illustrate that someone is going to be unhappy, all of the time because of the limitations of the ways we choose to access this site. (Unless we ban anything that could possibly be offensive, which is a huge slippery slope discussed by far more eloquent people further down in the comments). I think I managed to lose that explanation for my explanation in the zig zag pattern my logic tends to use rather than linear paths. So my apologiezs.

An RSS blog feed is similar to an LJ "friends" page, except that instead of showing you individual blog entries all down the page, it shows you only a list of links to the blog entries and either the title or sometimes a little bit of the text of the entry. You do not see the whole entry until you click on the link to it on the RSS feed page, which then takes you to the main entry - NOT the main LJ community or blog page - thereby skipping the cut tag and rendering it useless.
