To start, I just finished seperating the crunchies, flakes and nuts from my banana nut crunch cereal. I'm in love with the crunchies. It was worth a half hour of my life. I'm in crunch heaven at the current moment. Yes, Crunch Heaven.
The bands going into the studio to record a five song EP on April 3rd. I think it's gonna turn out great. We've put almost a year into rewriting songs to make sure everythings perfect. I've improved a lot on drums since we moved practice over to my house. I'm really excited to hear how everything works out. We were working with some other guys with record label contacts and stuff, but they have no patience. I'd much rather see how far we can get on our own before we try anything like that. I'm not a huge fan of the current music industry anyways. We're not going to be able to afford to pass out cd's for free this time. I'm hoping that people will be interested in buying them. We're going sell them at cost, we just don't want to put so much time and money into something to come out in debt. I also brought up the idea of putting together something like a group of bands. Sort of like the disco alliance. Except I dont like the idea of having any group labled as a band that belongs to a certain group. Just some way for bands to help eachother out with meeting other groups and some contacts. I also dont like the idea of putting out a flyer with the same five bands on it all of the time. Maybe we could schedule meetings, but i'm sure they'd be more like parties where we can talk about show plans. I dont know if it'll work out though. Bands around here are really competetive with eachother for some reason. Ever notice that if you tell another band about your band they assume you suck unless they're trying to spare your feelings? Well if anybody that reads this is interested in something like that, let me know and we'll talk about it. If we follow through with it, I'm sure it'll be something really big. Another bonus is going to be the fact that my dad's going to be retiring from his job soon to start a recording studio. If all plans follow through, it's going to be a pro tools based studio with as much top of the line equipment as possible. All of the bands that we can round up will be welcomed to record a song for a local sample cd. I'm estimating the studio to be up and running in a year or two. We'd like it to be the best studio in Michigan.
I'm selling a 1999 Pearl Session drumset. I bought it in 99' for $1400. I'm willing to sell it for $800. It's in good condition. It has been played in shows, so it does have a couple marks on it. They're hard to see unless you're really looking. They're on the top of the bass drum were the toms seemed to have rubbed off on them. All maple. 22" x 18" bass; 12" x 11", 13" x 12", and 16" x 16" toms. I'll also through in a vintage 1970's 5" X 14" Ludwig supraphic snare. It's very similar to the snare that john bonham used. The only difference is that he used a 6.5" X 14". Which is too deep for my liking. Anyways the snare sounds incredible. The bearing edges on all of the drums are in great condition. The rack toms have ISS mounting systems. It's a very deep sounding drumset with a lot of depth to it. At first I didn't know about having a green drumset, but when I saw these drums I couldn't resist.
That's a pic of an export series drum that I found with the same color. If you're interested at all, let me know.
