Okay, I'm going to stick this all behind a cut, just in case someone doesn't want to know the finer details of having a camera crammed through your navel ^^
So... Thursday morning Jared calls us a cab at 11:00. His best friend Jarrod comes with us to keep him company while I'm in surgery. At 11:15, the fucking cab finally shows up.... with two over people in it. One gets dropped off at TD bank, the other at Zellars. So at 11:30, we're on our way to the Belleville general.... oh, yes. In Belleville. It was supposed to be here in Trenton so I could walk there and just cab it back home for a mere $6; but no they made it for Belleville and we had to pay a total of $50 for both ways.
Anyways, we get to the hospital around 11:50. I wander over to the check-in, get registered and we're told to go day sugery. When we get there, the room is fairly full. I speak with the RN there and she tells us to have a seat...
My appointment was for 12:00. By 1:00, the people who had been waiting there since 10:00 get in for their surgeries. Then a nurse decides it's a good idea to let everyone know they're running behind and short on beds. So I finally get in to be prepped for surgery at 2:30. The nurse attending me asked why I had nail polish on my hands and feet. I gave her a blank look, feeliug rather confused. She gives me my gown and a blanket and takes off for a minute. An RN comes back looking all bitchy and says "Why don't you have your IB yet? You must be thirsty!!!" (I had to abstain from food and drink from 10:00 the night before). I told her I just got in. She gave me a couple of little alcohol wipes and said I need to get the polish off some of my fingers so the anesthesist could tell if I was getting enough oxygen during the surgery. Jared came with me to the OR but had to go back to the waiting room :( The anesthesist came in and explained what he was going to do to prep me for the surgery. He put the IV in (they had to use a child's tube LMAO, because my veins are so tiny). Then they gave me some oxygen by mask and he told me I was going to feel a stinging in my arm. And did I ever.... it hurt!!! Just then I felt really sleepy and barely heard him say he was going to put a breathing tube in me..............
I sort-of wake up later on in the OR recovery room; I can't breathe, something is lodged in my throat. I started thrashing around and someone grabbed my arm and pulled the thing out (it was the breathing tube, duh ^^*). I almost puked on the nurse from it. I started crying from my drug-induced haze because my stomache was in agony, I was very thirsty and I wanted to see Jared. I vaguely heard someone say "morphine" and then felt a cup being helf to my mouth. Then I fell back asleep.
I woke up again some time later back in my semi-private room, feeling really nauseous. A nurse came in with some ginger ale for me. She explained the surgery to me: they made an incision in my belly button to put the camera in and a smalled incision right above my pubic bone in order to guide the camera around. She asked if I needed anything... I asked if I could see my fiance... she smiled and said I kept calling for him while I was sleeping :) She went to find him and I passed out again. When I woke up, he was there sitting next to me, holding my hand and petting my hair ^^ He helped me drink my ginger ale; I asked him what time it was and he told me it was almost 5:30. The RN came back and explained what was going to happen during my recovery, gave me a perscription for Tylenol-3 (mmmmmm, codine), and told Jared to help me get dressed so he could take me home. It took awhile to get that done; I could barely sit up I was in so much pain and felt as though I was going to vomit any second. He even had to put my pad in for me... they gave me one just in case because they said bleeding sometimes occurs after the surgery.
He called a cab and I passed out again in it. Once we were home Jared and Jarrod got me all settled on the couch. Jarrod went home so I could rest. I ate a bit of KFC and drank A LOT of juice.
I've been hopped up on pills ever since I came back because I've been in so much pain. I go back on Wednesday as a follow-up and to get resulsts of the exploratory surgery. I'm nervous about it but I'll be glad to know why the cysts are there; the birth control I'm on is specifically for keeping cysts away.
