The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is definitely the worst movie I have seen this entire year. The film featured some of the most pathetic editing I have ever seen, intolerable writing (blasphemy!), multiple (major) unresolved plot lines, and piss poor directing, culminating in one of the most convoluted films I have ever seen in my entire life, and a butchered attempt at what seems like a no-brainer adaptation. The only people would could potentially enjoy this are the Adams cult fans (of which I considered myself a member of) who may be able to derive pleasure from catching all of the subtle (yeah right) nuances and homages to the books, or middle school students (for whom I assume the book was written for in the first place) on crack, or someone who is too insane already to notice the ass-backwards pacing and unnecessary "wacky" dialog. I feel like comparing it to Kubrick's Lolita, but you can see the obvious fallacy there.

In any case, it isn't worth seeing, save whatever money you have and see xXx 2.

I feel like ending this on a down note is not good, so here are some films we can look forward to this year:

Princess Raccoon (Sejun Suzuki)
A History of Violence (David Cronenberg)
Batman Begins (Christopher Nolan)
The New World (Terrence Malick)
The Brothers Grimm & Tideland (Terry Gilliam)
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (George Lucas)
Howl's Moving Castle (Hayao Miyazaki)
Land of the Dead (George Romero) - Apparently the zobie movie market hasn't dried up yet somehow.

So, uh, who wants to fly me to Cannes?
