(no subject)
I managed to use my newly acquired Model UN skills today, as I was sitting in class at central this morning. I was thinking to myself how funny it would be if the class I was in was run the same way as at the MUN. So, I started acting it out in my head whereas students were referencing obscure rules and regulations while the teacher was banging the gavel and whatnot. The only problem was that even though I was convinced I was acting it out only in my head, I was also speaking out loud, saying things like "c14: short comment, the delegation of person sitting in the front row wishes to addressthe chair," etc. Let me tell you, that was embarrassing, but it probably ranks up there as one of the most un smooth first impressions I have ever given (which, considering my disposition is quite a feat).
Anyways, on to movie suggestions. I recently bought rushmore and the discreet charm of the bourgoisie, both excellent movies that I would suggest to anyone who cares. But, most notable to my movie watching habits has been my introduction to netflix and subsequent movie binge. Here is a list of discs I have rented since my subscription (roughly 2 weeks ago):
Wings of Desire
Aguirre, Wrath of God
Scanners
Eyes wide Shut
The Deer Hunter
For All Mankind
Fitzcarraldo
Dreams
Fanny and Alexander
I also have "Alphavile", "The Last Wave", and "That Obscure Object of Desire" in the mail which I will hopefully watch some of tomorrow if homework permits.
I have to say, all of those movies that I rented were pretty damn good (with the exception of The Deer Hunter). Fanny and Alexander was 5 1/2 hours of one of the most memorable movie watching experiences I have ever had, Herzog's stuff was insane, Scanners had heads blowing up AND a guy hacking into a computer... with his mind! Space totally rules, Dreams and Eyes Wide Shut were visualy stunning, and Wings of Desire and the Deer Hunter were long.
That sums up whatever I have done for the past few week. Oh right, I forgot about the fact that it is almost Mikes birthday and thereby, almost my birthday as well. I am thereby suggesting you buy me crap, even though the three or so people who read this will never do so. I will be making mike a pacman cake and celebrating his birthday by eating it without him. Maybe I will make cakes of all of the ghosts as well. That would rule. WAKKA WAKKA WAKKA
