You know what's like that? How in Taiwan -- and I'm sure you found this frustrating -- it can be a lot harder for a guy to find a small, cheap apartment with shared public spaces since a lot of the ads for those kinds of places say "females only."

Some of them say that because the current tenants are female and wouldn't be comfortable sharing a bathroom with a guy, but some are because the landlord just thinks a girl will keep the place cleaner and have fewer noise complaints. Not necessarily true, folks! Girls can be filthy too, and long hair clogs drains, let's not forget.

I agree with you that people should be able to be picky about who they're sharing a bathroom, kitchen, or living room with. And I don't think that has to be a slippery slope. There just has to be very specific guidelines for what constitutes shared living space.

That's a good analogy. And yeah, let's NOT forget that long hair clogs drains, because it totally does.

And I don't really think it has to be a slippery slope either. I was just saying that to be more PC.

there are detrimental effects on society when our newspapers disply ads that say "No Homos" and "White Only"

landlords are allowed to discriminate among potential tenants in whatever way they want (when they are living in the same vicinity); they're just not allowed to publish their preferences.
