Almost completed my collection of Lego Indiana Jones sets. Only one left is the fight under the airplane from Raiders. Even comes with a beefy mechanic figure. ^^
Speaking of which, I picked up Crystal Skull on Blu-ray. Some said it was stupid because it involved aliens, but then I argue that a box of facemelt, a cult run by India's Parliament, and a five hundred year old knight are pretty farfetched too, so there. It's really no goofier than the previous ones. Pity that Connery is taking retirement seriously, he would have been a hoot.
I upgraded my Playstation 3. The 80GB hard drive sounded huge, but FFXI takes twelve right there, and many of the games install between 500MB and a couple of GB of info, so it pretty much got nickel-and-dimed to death. So I went over to the store and picked up a nice Seagate 320GB notebook drive. It was the easiest upgrade ever. One screw holds the drive rail in place, four hold the drive to the rail. It was literally as easy as pulling the screws, putting the new drive in the rail, and snapping it in place. The time consuming part is moving all of my game saves from an SD card to the HD, and re-downloading my game content. Fortunately, Sony made that part relatively painless too. I could have used the backup utility, but I can't seem to find my external HD.... wierd. Anyway, it works, and I'm happy.
Saw the trailer for Transformers 2. And even though the first one was mediocre, I still want to see more giant fucking robots. Was that Devastator? ^^ I did find it interesting though - on the movie poster, the face they show of some 'bot or the other bears a striking resemblance to one of the Jackal Guards from the movie Stargate...
Lindsay and I picked up our wedding rings about a week and a half ago. Hers matches the engagement ring, mine is tungsten carbide with a carbon fiber band in it. I've been wearing it on and off before she sends it off for engraving to make sure it will fit comfortably, since it's impossible to resize one of those. For those who don't know, they use the same materials to make mining equipment and deep oil drilling bits. The ring will never scratch, dent, bend, or tarnish, and has to be engraved with a laser etching device. Basically, it's a well-nigh indestructible wedding band, and if it doesn't fit right, I need to order a different size before it's engraved. Good thing I like it, huh?
Finally, my dad went back to the hospital this morning and is probably under the knife as I type this. Yeah, that new liver they gave him? Well, evidently it came with a side order of cancer. Probably passed screening since at the time it would have been no larger than a couple grains of sand. Well, it's grapefruit sized now, and it needs out. I did a little research on this one, apparently there have only been 11 cases of this strain in the past forty years. It is however associated with women who use a particular type of birth control pill for more than 8 years, which leads me to wonder about the source of the liver. To add to the fun, it's going to be hard to get at because of the scar tissue left over from the first time they gutted him like a fish. So if anybody reads this far, send us some happy thoughts, k?
Ah well, I have stuff to do... nothing important really, but I might as well get started.
