Saw Kennedy Soundtrack on Thursday, not many people there- but they played well and did a few stoner tunes which made people cheer. The DJ afterwards played a few Cypress Hill tunes too, so all in all it was a good night for the tokesters. We all got really drunk and ended up doing Hulk Hogan impressions in the middle of the dancefloor, then ( Read more... )

What'd you think of Sonic Boom Six? They played with The Toasters.

It must have been a fairly wierd gig for SB6. Out of the three support bands to The Toasters, I thought they were easily the best. They had quite a different sound to the other bands, all being Ska or Punky- to me it was more of a mature sound -it didnt really seem to go down well. The sound wasnt great for them, you couldnt really hear Laila's vocals ..it left me with the impression that their studio CD would do them way more justice than this particular gig. Laila's wicked attitude (and massive trousers), and the reggae interludes made me think of No Doubt.. all in all I think i need to hear more! They're playing in Scunthorpe tomorrow.. but alas, no cash. Have you seen them before? whaddyareckon?

I've seen them about four times now. They hail from Manchester like myself so I get to see them pretty often.

I think they're incredible. A new and amazing sound in a scene where almost all ska is the infamous 'ska punk'.

Wicked stuff, I'll definately be catching them again as soon as they come our way. Agreed about the ska-punk, it was refreshing to see that neither The Toasters or Sonic Boom 6 were scared to play at less than lightning speed!

Have you checked out any of their studio material?

I've got their promo cd that got them their manager which is damn sexy. They've got a mini-album that they're selling on the tour that doesn't come to Manchester. I'm gonna have to try and get a copy off them at some point after the tour.
