Oh my god.

HOW TO EVEN BEGIN.

Miscellaneous observations?

1. Ugh, I love your writing. I love the rhythms. I can't get enough of the descriptions. There's something of Tolkien here, but if Guillermo del Toro had directed the Silmarillion, if that makes any sense.

2. What you did with Castiel's form in Hell and the form of the man he is destined to possess on Earth - that is such an incredible, creepy, perfect idea.

3. "It was enough." Castiel would answer, uncertain of the import of his statement, that he had not yet seen his own reflection, nor cared that he had one and what it might mean. Thought, for his superiors in heaven, was not a commendable trait in a soldier. Castiel's reply pleased them then. - Oh, this says SO MUCH in so little.

4. The demon mistaking Castiel's identity was BRILLIANT. These are nameless minor characters, but you've put so much thought and life into their cameos... Beautiful.

5. Dean not wanting Sam to see him like that - I wanted to weep; I've been wondering if it's impossible for Spn to show us more of Hell than the paltry Photoshop effects, I would be happy with something creative and suggestive but do not like this 'we don't have the budget' excuse... This is so crucial to who they are, to Dean and to Castiel, this meeting in Hell, and in your fic even more so.

6. Every stone was saturated with the remnant of his soul that knew someone had been looking for him.

And someone had come.

YES. This. I don't know why it resonates so deeply - but Castiel brings so much hope into Dean's life. Even now, even in canon.

7. "Everything here that is mine, is yours," Dean told Castiel as they crossed the threshold, "You are mine, now."

"Yes," Castiel said, amiable, "I am yours."

I can't begin to tell you how much I love this. I'm nearly speechless. I think in that part it's the adjective, there, almost a verb: amiable. It weighs the ending in a certain way. It's so recognisable, somehow, as the Castiel he becomes.

This comment's an utter joy to read.

You have no idea how happy it makes me that at least one person likes this, where my Tolkien fandom roots are apparently showing. I love Guillermo del Toro's work, I'm waiting for the day he directs the Silmarillion....so yes, this comment's the highlight of my day.

Really, thank you for loving this rendition of Castiel. SPN fandom kills my fic-posting self-esteem like nothing else.
