100 words: Brandish her wand with a feathery tongue

There was nothing left for me, so I walked into the woods expecting to die. Die from hunger, from a fall, from wolves, from the cold. Anything. It didn’t matter anymore. And that’s when you meet them, I guess: when you’re at the end of it all. She emerged from a tree, all feathers and light, and pulled the warm glow out of herself into the form of a diamond. Suddenly, all was well. I realized it would be okay. I left the woods and returned to the world.

How was I supposed to know she needed her diamond back?
