Tsukino adjusted some controls as I peered through the thick crystalline window into the clean-room beyond. Slowly, a translucent figure began to appear, looking very much like a young Asian girl. She was looking around, bewildered.
“That,” Tsukino said, “is the ghost of Yukio Yamada, who died in 1892 at the age of ten.”
“Continue to increase the power,” I said. “I want to touch it.”
