[It was late in the afternoon and seeing as Flynn hadn't emerged from his room all day, Raven decided to invite himself inside. He wasn't expecting it to be completely bare. It took him by surprise for a moment. Flynn had been in Luceti for as long as he could recall, to suddenly disappear like this after all this time, it could be said that he ( Read more... )

But it's good. They're back home where they belong now.

It never gets any easier seein' people ya care about being sent home. But as long as you remember 'em, or someone remembers them, then their memory will live on.

Besides, Flynn's a good kid! He'll go back home and do what he loves ta do! He's not goin' back to die, he's going back to continue what he believes in.

That's right... he's a knight back in his world, isn't he? So he's got a lot of important things to do there. You know, like protecting people and slaying dragons and whatever else it is that knights do.

Slayin' dragons is not quite what Knights do...

... it isn't? I mean, I didn't know too much about the knights back in my world, but that's what they do in books...

[The knights in his world kind of sucked.]

Knight are more complicated than they appear in books. Ya got the politics, the ethics, I mean, they live fer the people but there's also corruption and bias. They're meant ta good, Flynn does, but not every knight is reliable.

Yeah, I know all about the corruption...

Well... even though they weren't actually working for the group they said they were, a bunch of knights attacked my town because they wanted something a friend of mine had with her. They threatened to kill people and destroy the entire town if she didn't turn herself in.

Ya know, one of these days someone is gonna tell me a story about noble knights who do justice and save princesses. I'm sick of hearin' about all the corruption. Why can't they just be like the knights ya hear in fairytales? I guess that'd be wishful thinkin', huh?

I don't know. I really wanted to believe that knights were like what I read about in books, but... I'm sure there are some out there like that, right? We just haven't met them yet. Um, aside from Flynn, I mean.

Flynn is your token lawful Knight. He's just not all that bright when it boils down to it, but his heart in the right place. As long as there are people like him out there? Then I think we'll be ok.
