Very, very randomly ...

I now know what Sarah's surname is! She's a McAllister. Just in case any of you wanted to know.

(Why, yes, I *do* realize how long it's been since I've made a post over here. ;p)

That was just yer friendly neighborhood (former) AG Gunslinger bein' semi-cryptic, I reckon. ;) crisis August 9 2015, 22:19:48 UTC
Context is in the last LJ post I made way, way back there in December of '09, just before I left Florida to return to (roughly) my hometown area, which is the general wasteland of southern Ohio/western West Virginia.

Yay! Ah'm a hick inna sticks agin!

There's a snippet of Sketcherman (Marshall Larkin) and Sarah (now known to be a McAllister!) in that post that still runs through my head now-n-then, and is only very gradually extending itself into the full story. Of course, that doesn't mean there aren't more Sarah and Sketch stories floating around in my head, as well as actually written, just not published. But for the life o' me, despite that I know such a lot about both characters--their characters, for one; their friends, parents, siblings, cousins, associates and associations, aspirations; yadda, yadda, ad nauseam--there has never been a single one of Sarah's people that have bothered to tell me what her family name is up until a few days ago.

It's been odd, to say the least. I've known her as a character, almost as a real person in all honesty, for over quarter of a century, but I've never known what her last name was. The revelation warranted a bit of celebration on my part. I may even have had a Guinness. heh.

Thus, another simple peep into the LJ ether. I keep telling myself I *need* to get back to using LJ regularly, rather than just letting myself be content with the time-suck that is Facebook for my social media fix. At least running off at the fingertips over here is the legit kinda thing to do, and is what folks expect of me and is (mostly) accepted/acceptable!

Someday, I suppose.

How's by you, chica? How has the Duchess been treated by life, lo' these many years that I have been incredibly slack at keeping up with Livejournal?

And is LJ worth coming back to? I heard there was drama with it a little while back, that I largely ignored at the time. Is the site "safe" as far as keeping my words my own, if I should return, or do I have to be concerned about whatever copyright and privacy kerfluffle it was that went fluttering through the air?

LJ is . . . fading. Some of us are still here; more have left, migrating to Tumblr, and to FB.

There's an AG FB group now, if'n you want to join in: https://www.facebook.com/groups/alt.gothic/ - I lurk there, in the eddies of conversations.

(If you just want to be my FB friend that would also be cool, just send me an LJ message with yr name so I can find you. NB: I don't talk about LJ at FB because my mom and coworkers and whatever read that and I keep the two separate.)

I don't know whatever happened with the privacy and copyright kerfluffle, but as far as I know your words are your own. It looks like they won a Safe Harbor lawsuit so ONTD can post celebrity photos, or, uh, something, I don't know.

(Most fannish activity has jumped to Tumblr and/or AO3 at this point, with some to Dreamwidth, so all the copyright fracas has gone with it. Maybe?)

As for me. Ah, well. It has been . . . an interesting few years. Here's the highlights from 2010-now, such as they are:

2009

- joined Kali Nichta at her music blog

2010

- went to a LOT of shows. I mean a LOT. Took some nice pictures of rock stars.
- Also went on a road trip to Mississippi

2011

I think this was the year I went to Barbados twice.

2012-2013

- graduated from law school
- failed the bar twice (decided "fuck it", sticking with library work)
- Dad died (complications from a stroke caused by an infection; the spirit was planning vacations and new business ventures, the body just couldn't take any more.)
- had bedbugs (and got rid of them!)
- attended 20 year high school reunion, actually had a good time! It was weird, in many ways, but I was glad to see them all again.

2014

- had major surgery on my spine for the third time (I'm all good now!)

2015 (so far)

- both of my cats passed away in a three and half month period (kidney disease; they were also senior felines, ages 13 and 17 respectively, and while I was (am) sad, I'm relieved they are no longer suffering)
- now busy trying to get a new job, still music blogging, and still thinking on getting some original fiction published.

all of that sounds terrible but, like, things are ok now. On the whole.
