Fortunate reader,
When I wrote you last, there was neither Snapchat, reddit nor Instagram. Now that I write you at this moment, there is corona.
First it was all over China, then Italy. Now it's all over Europe.
- On Thursday, the government asked everyone to work at home, if you could. Work complied, probably because of two sick colleagues.
- On Friday, no more gatherings for over a hunderd people. No more dancing, no more going out.
- On Saturday, one of my friends - she works for an on-line travel magazine - told me her work has gone bankrupt.
- On Sunday, they shut down the schools and all bars and restaurants. And cofee shops. No more doobies. ;-)
- On Monday, they allowed drive-throughs, deliveries and pick-ups at the coffeshops. Apparently, the street dealers seized the opportunity to make bank. The Dutch, we do have our priorities.
What does that leave us? Shopping, in moderation. Long walks, as long as you avoid other people. And since The Boy is slightly paranoid about the virus, seeing friends is right out. So what does that leave me? Being cooped up in the house. Lots of ramen. Two new kitties. And writing.
I'm thinking of growing out my beard.
