I've had issues with myspace and facebook since they got big. Why? It's hard to say. Part of it is that trends annoy me. Another is that I become fiercely loyal to things I like, such as LJ. Then we also come back to the wanting/not wanting to be found issues. So I don't really know. Much of my bias is imagined, but it still bothers me to go against it.
I find that most of the time, people turn out to be bigger assholes than I thought, so perhaps my dislike of Facebook is because of that. I resent the "must post every mundane detail of my life" mentality. I mean, I play Farmville, and that's bad enough, but I don't need to see the everyday progression of your child's potty training. I mean, really. If you wouldn't write it on your front door, don't post it on Facebook.
Also I've pretty much found and been found by everyone I need to be, so at this point it's just maintenance. But I hate that I have to hang on to everyone I've ever known. They say that "kids today" don't understand the experience of wondering what's become of people they once knew.
