he said "about"

We all have weird, tiny, stupid reasons for smiling, don't we? Some of us smile because we saw a cute puppy. Some of us smile because we heard a particularly apt song play on a mall sound system. Today's stupid reason for Cris smiling is hearing Connection host Dick Gordon say "about."

Listen to him say it. Listen to him say "out", the ( Read more... )

we may have inflicted Bryan Adams upon the world, but we haven't produced a Michael Bolton.

and Celine Dion? that was retribution for Whitney Houston.

See that right there's a good argument for Quebec independence.
If that had happened, then Canada proper would no longer be technically responsible for Celine Dion.

Some people smile because they are greeted with the smell of curry chicken when they enter the IT lunchroom. Mmm, curry chicken.

the roundness of the o's and the sharpness of t's that labels him as Canadian

Funny, I just realized that about Bob this morning, too, when he mispronounced "schedule".

Piss off. ;)
And just Monday I was so happy to be sitting at a dinner table and able to express myself in Metric, without having to do mental gymnastics to make myself intelligible. Only one American was at the table, it was great. :)
Hrm, I've noticed that I've given up saying "out and about", it leaves me open to too many snicker. Hrmph. Heathens. :)

oh come now, everyone knows that metric kicks the english system's arse ;)

i mean, ok, even if i have to think really hard to convert km to miles, and kg to pounds, and if -1 sounds a lot scarier than 30 degrees....it'll still always be -9.8m/s2 to me :)

     from slashdot earlier today:

"The Americans are planning a similar facility and they expect it to cost $800 million US and take 10 years to build. So we're 10 years ahead," Schmor said.

"Canada is now leading the world in the field of nuclear astrophysics.

"We have bragging rights."

his colleagues (again, scientists, not pr drones) concur:

"Canada is now the world leader in this research," TRIUMF director Alan Shotter said after the breakthrough experiment, which puts UBC ahead of the only other facility of its kind, in Geneva, Switzerland.

just as mental health is finally being recognized as critical by employers, so our government should realize that it's not just physical difficulties that should neccesitate foreign aid. canada's self-esteem problem is truly the sort of crisis that the world needs to get together to solve. we need to begin shipments of cherry-red early 90's muscle cars to canada as soon as possible. ;)
