Talking about the Chromatics recently reminded me that it's been a while since I've posted anything music related. That isn't for lack of activity. I've just been doing more of sharing one-on-one, via songs forwarded over Spotify or youtube videos sent via email. So, as an experiment, I'll start making up some playlists and posting them here. Youtube videos also to follow for Spotify-less friends.
Beach House -- they scratch an itch for shoegazer-y textured electronic music. I can take or leave their first few albums, but Bloom's quickly become one of my default selections at home. There's a hint of 80s New Wave reverence in their composition, but it's not as slavishly derivative* of the past as some other recent releases. Their sound is evocative of early 90s 4AD ethereal beauty, but still its own thing.
