(no subject)
so i went camping this past weekend. it rained both nights, and i'm talking lightning, thunder, and torrential downpour for about 7 hours friday night and 4 hours saturday night straight, in a little tent.
there were also coyotes in the woods, about 30 feet from us the second night, making strange noises. we concluded that it is their mating season. they were so loud that we all freaked out and ran into the tent. (and yeah, like flimsy tent fabric is really going to save us of course...)
i got a pretty decent tan though. no burns! i've been so pasty for the past two years that i didn't my skin produced melanin anymore.
despite the rain and scary coyote noises, it was still pretty fun. my car even only used a quarter of a tank of gas each way, and those were 2 hour drives each! i'm quite proud of miss sally.
haha, it was kind of nice to get away from paul for a couple of days too. being away kind of made me realize and appreciate how good we both have it. like, we can be away from each other and not even call or text message each other, but we're still mentally in sync when we see other again, days later. yeah, maybe that's kind of a basic thing in most relationships, but i'm glad we have that.
i've also decided that i (eventually) want a dog. i met and fell in love with a five month old german shorthair pointer this past weekend. she was the sweetest thing i've ever met! of course, i am going to wait until i live in a place with a yard, and i would only adopt from a shelter, but i really would like to have one someday.
i think i may be getting a garden plot in one of lakewood's community gardens with theresa. we still have to find out more info on it, but it would be awesome to have our own locally grown produce. i've already got my tomato plants growing in my window sill.
also, art space should be happening very soon. there was a delay on behalf of the landlord, so hopefully he'll give us a reimbursement of some sort. kind of annoying because it should have been ready by may 1st, but i'm still excited to have a place to work and store my stuff. after all, this is the biggest reason i am taking a semester off before i go to grad school. i've been kind of anticipating my daily summer life around devoting more energy to this, and i need a somewhat private, cat free place where i can just leave a mess of supplies where it is, and just pick up where i left off later. i'm a weirdo, and i can't do anything without planning it out first.
hmm, what else? a lot is happening this weekend. the benefit for WCSB is saturday, along with jessy's birthday, and also an art show, which i really, really wanted to go to, but now i don't think i can.
i'm eating raw broccoli and i have it stuck in my teeth now. it's really filling though!
