tightly woven into homes
where wildflowers wish to roam
heart-shaped leaves and dainty stems
conceal a quite malicious nature
native species' silent cries
for salvation reach silent skies
as humankind comes lumbering in
to champion the sly invader

floods daunt not this tangled wretch
who networks best with water's touch
the early riser's proven right
as forest floors are swallowed up
butter yellow, plastic green
