Me and Steve went to see The Proclaimers in Newcastle yesterday!!! Bit of a bugger that the wheelchair platform wasn't tall enough when there was loads of people stood in front meaning that I had to sit on the railing with Steve holding me up, but it doesn't matter as they were really good.....plus they sang Sunshine On Leith....not as good when sung live but still a great song. Well actually its a pretty rubbish song but it grows on you so much you can't help but love it!!! They also sang many of their other songs including I'm Gonna Be (500 miles) which apparently is a big hit in the clubs. That explained the vast amount of people that were actually watching them....although they clearly weren't aware of all the lyrics and started the "Da Da Da DA" bit way too early, I think I was the only person who knows the song from Benny And Joon!!
In other news I have officially been back in the country for a whole weekend and its been fantastic. You don't realise until you leave the Boro (and the area round it!) how much you miss it and how much you would never want to live anywhere else....the feeling of coming back home is an amazing one even though I was only away for 3 days!!! It was so exciting to fly over the Riverside and the Transporter Bridge as we came in to land.....I tried to take some photos but my camera failed on me....damn you batteries!!!
I have also just booked tickets for me and my Mum to what could be THE best gig of the year: TOM JONES LIVE AT THE NEWCASTLE ARENA. I'm so excited and its not on until October!!! I can't believe how much live music I have already seen this year and how much live music I'm still going to see what with a few more of Steve's gigs, then I'm at Take That in three weeks, followed the day after by Middlesbrough Music Live, then I have Robbie Williams in September then Tom Jones in October!!! The reason that I am so excited and desperate to see Tom Jones is that seeing him live in concert is one my things on my list of 101 things to do before I die which means in October I get to cross it off my list!!!
Who wouldn't want to go and see him perform live!?
