We're making some more progress on the fixing up of the house. It's slow but steady. I'm taking the day off from work to get some things done while the weather permits. It rained all weekend so I couldn't do much with the outside painting. We picked a slightly darker beige color to paint the door trim and the post on the front porch and I got it primed with two coats and got one coat of paint on there but this took all day because every time I would start it would rain. It's been raining for the last week and a half straight. Today shouldn't be too bad so I may be able to get more done.
The inside is pretty much finished. I got the spare bedroom painted and the trim painted with an oil based high gloss paint. It looks very nice in there now. I also touch up the bathroom door that had a stain on it from some hair coloring. While I was at it I also touched up the trim paint in that bathroom and it looks perfect in there now. When I first did that bathroom I did a very sloppy job and got brown paint on the trim and never repainted that. It's funny how just repainting the trim makes it look like the whole room was painted. I also replaced the vent covering for the main air intake because the paint was peeling off and I replaced the ceiling fan in the kitchen with a regular light fixture that matches the other fixture already in there. Really, the only thing else that needs to be done inside is to finish putting quarter-round in the hallway closet and paint in there.
Today I'll finish the outside painting, pull weeds out of the gravel driveway, call around for prices on some new gravel to be spreaded, try to get a landscaper to mow at least every two weeks (I don't have the time to do that and all this other stuff), and cut through the overgrowth of two gardens in the back yard. They just need to be chopped down and tilled over and replaced with grass. With any luck and not being distracted by the computer I'll be able to get most of this done.
