She has always followed Ernie, turning against Potter when he supposedly hurt Justin, being the first group joining Dumbledore's Army, welcoming Finnagin as a new inductee to the group, chewing out Smith for his cowardice towards Harry, and coming back to Hogwarts to defend it from the dark wizard. But the time comes when hiding in her friend's shadow is no longer is an option.
When the final choice is presented to her, she barely hesitates. His example has taught her well, and now she stands on her own with the strength he has been giving her over the last seven years.
Ernie glances down at her, grim defiance in his eyes. He will die today, she thinks. But it will be a battle worth dying for.
