the day that sucked

Aug 27, 2009 13:47

have you ever worked until 2:15am from 9am....its sucks, it sucked for so many reasons but the main thing is that it sucked.

Bascially the cheif from a reserve calls begging for disel becuase there tanks are empty (god forbid you check and maybe give notice to people that there low), so for like 3 days I'm calling every fuel hauler in Winnipeg and everyone turns us down including one company hinting that they would do it to backing out at the last minute. Basically to get to the reserve you have to take the barge, its a private barge and insured but trucking companies seem to have liability issues with going any where near water. I guess if you have shitty staff and crappy trucks that leak fuel alot, I would be worry too but I digress.

So our fuel trucks are not ready but we pull in some strings and 2 are done but we dont have anyone with CPPI training to enter the esso facility so we call in a favor and we get a guy to pump the gas for us. First problem, our main driver who told us 4 trucks were 100%, we find out that only his truck starts, the other are on lay away insurance. So we switch insurance and we get anotehr driver for the otehr truck. We get set up to get the gas, another problem, the scully doesnt work, which means he cant pump gas. We call the mechanic who tested and said it works, and we send our trucks to him to fix. In the meantime, we have the bright idea to have the guy pumping the gas for us to load his truck and we do a transfer. While thats going on, one of our drivers goes to get something to eat after dropping off the tanker...and drops off the fucking earth for 2 hours.Apparently he had a emergency, one of those that prevents you from calling your bosses back on your cell phone and not respond to txt until 2 hours later to inform us that he left the keys for the truck under the mat in the truck. It also an emergency that after you txt me, you also cant answer your cell phone but will respond to txt. The other guys truck now has the fuel and we dont even have the tankers anywhere near him and omehow we convince him to come to us. While this is going on, our pumper truck is also not working becuase the instruction to our head driver to drive EACH truck for 10-15 minutes to make sure it works thought I guess that meant, drive his truck, so the pumper has been idle for over a month. So one of our guys is working on the truck, gas is coming in a tanker and there is no way to pump the gas into our tankers without a pumper and our tankers arent even there anyways. The mechanic fixed the tankers but a moot point since the fuel has already been collected. Go to trucks, driver takes one, other truck.....locked. We figure the keys are inside but I figure they were in the other truck but we have no way to get a hold of our other driver becuase, he didnt being his cell. We crack the glass on one truck to get inside to find no keys to have our driver come back with the keys to move the other truck. I guess it didnt enter into his brain to have his friend who drove him, who has a cell, to call us to let us know he has the otehr keys. So we move the tankers and they start transfering the gas using there own pump. While this is going on, were trying to find a way to start the pumper truck with no success. W could have tkane it to a shop but our driver insisted that they wouldnt take it cause we didnt have an account only to find, they would have, if it hadnt been past midnight and they wer closed. So I had to supervise the gas pump with my boss, his wife, and his wife dad till past 2am only to find out our head driver had not put on the plates we gave him for the tankers over 2 months ago. Lucky for me, I foudn this out yesterday and had new plates made. His reason, apparently someone broke into the yard, evaded security, went through a LARGE compound filled with trucks, picked our trucks and decided to steal the plates and nothing else, before fleeing undetected by camera, security, and large fench. Someone out there, there is a expert thief who steals lisence plates from tankers and nothing else, protect your tankers. Or the likey thing was he didnt put the plates on like I said to do and lost them.....that seems more likely

So I was home by about 2:45am (by the way ann, I should have visited, I was 5 minutes from your home) and went to bed, I got to work by 11:30am (boss left me sleep in cause I was kinda pissed). Days I wanted to quit.
