today was the last session of the Anne Braden Anti-Racist Organizing Training program (www.collectiveliberation.org). it was a beautiful, powerful day and i'm oozing with lots of bittersweet emotions which i'll probably going to be up all night with.
being on the leadership team for ABP and otherwise working with Catalyst has been such an incredible blessing. i am working on thank-you notes for the folks who've linked me to this awesome organization over the last four years, mostly radical anti-racist organizers from YRUU (meems, danni, lydia, etc). i reminded clare and chris today about siri and laura manning dressing up as them - hilarious! - for a super-hero dance a few years ago (not that i've ever found the pictures to prove it).
but anyway, as i said to the folks in the program, working for an organization which i believe in so deeply, and feel so good about, has been so healing. i hope to spend more time explaining the significance of this organization and this program to more of my loved ones. for now i am very moved and excited for the future and wishing my brain would shut off just a little so my body can take a well-deserved break.
