So, I've decided to start sprouting seeds and nuts. I've currently got peanuts, walnuts, and almonds soaking. In one 12 hour soak session alone, they already taste infinitely better. The peanuts were particularly tasty, but the walnuts released something that was very interesting. They have bitter tannins and enzyme inhibitors when raw, but soaked, they release it all. The water that I drained off was a very pretty amber color. Walnuts don't actually sprout, since they're out of the shell, but soaking them activates enzymes and makes them more nutritious. Same with all nuts, but some you can actually sprout rather than doing a long soak. They're all just in for a soak, as I don't want to actually be sprouting these. Other things in the future however, will be fully sprouted. I just need sprouting jars. :P I'm going to tag these under "sprouting" in case you guys wanna go back and look at progress. I think it's fascinating. :D
